Suffering from periodontal disease can cause bad breath, bone loss, loose teeth, receding gums, and even tooth loss. If you are experiencing these symptoms, it’s comforting to know a highly trained specialist is at hand to treat these conditions and restore you to good dental health. E. Drew Moore, DDS, MS, is that highly trained specialist. He’s a doctor, a board-certified periodontist, and a member of the American Academy of Periodontology as well as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
As a specialist, Dr. Moore focuses on surgical and nonsurgical treatment methods for periodontal disease while working hand-in-hand with your primary dental provider to ensure your optimal dental health. His periodontal residency gave him three additional years of surgical training and countless hours of clinical research studies, which aids him in treating and diagnosing your dental needs.
“When diagnosing and treating periodontitis or placing implants, it’s important to see a specialist who is able to provide the best options available for the patient,” Dr. Moore said. At his private practice in Highland Village, he uses implants, backed by years of research and the latest technology, including 3D scans, to give you the best clinical results.
Dr. Moore believes that quality of life is infinitely better if one has a full complement of teeth. He always strives to save your natural teeth. While most patients want to keep their natural teeth for their lifetime, that isn’t always possible. If teeth are lost, Dr. Moore says implants are powerful additions in restoring function and comfort. He offers implants and implant-supported dentures to increase comfort and biting strength, and at the same time reducing future bone loss.
Born and raised in Dallas, a graduate of Texas Christian University, Baylor College of Dentistry and University of Oklahoma, Dr. Moore was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a captain and served as a general dentist and a periodontist for 14 years on active duty in the Army Dental Corps. He did a three-year surgical residency in periodontics and earned his certificate and Master of Science from the Oklahoma University College of Dentistry where he graduated with honors.
In 2005, Dr. Moore left active duty and transitioned into the Texas Army National Guard. In 2006, he took command of the 111th Multifunctional Medical Battalion. He is the first Dental Corps Officer to ever command a unit in the Texas Army National Guard. In Iraq, he commanded a Battalion Task Force of over 500 soldiers, sailors and airmen in 14 companies and detachments. LTC Moore was promoted to full colonel and awarded the Bronze Star among numerous other medals. He is still in the Texas National Guard and nearing the 25-year mark in service.
Dr. Moore and his wife, Jane, who is now his practice manager, have three children. One attends college at Texas Christian University and two attend Marcus High School. With deep roots in the area and children in local schools, Dr. Moore and his family enjoy living here.
