Uncork’d Bar & Grill in McKinney

Cozy. Welcoming. Uplifting. Utterly Delicious.

When Mike Baird and Cassie Hernandez teamed up to create Uncork’d Bar & Grill, they envisioned a place that would stand out from other restaurants in North Texas. After opening in 2018, word of mouth spread quickly, and Uncork’d became a local favorite, heralded as McKinney’s “hidden gem.” Customers eagerly shared their new find with friends, family, and neighbors, and have continued their loyal patronage during COVID-19.

“We wanted to create a warm gathering place where everyone could relax and enjoy a good meal and drinks — perfect for date night, girls night out, a special event, or just kicking back with beverages and appetizers,” says Mike, who has been in the service industry for 45 years and owns a number of area franchises.

Cassie, Mike’s Uncork’d business partner, and the restaurant’s managing partner added, “Customers tell us we’re their go-to place for lunch and dinner with delicious food, a fantastic selection of beer, wine, and cocktails, attentive service, and a great vibe. We love hearing this! It tells us we successfully brought our vision to life.”

Prepare Your Taste Buds for Something Amazing

One look at the Uncork’d menu, and you’ll understand why people flock to this restaurant. The food is traditional yet stands apart from run-of-the-mill fare. Chef Agustin Hernandez, who worked in New York for over a decade, has created crave-worthy cuisine with Texas-based flavor profiles and lots of options to satisfy any palate.

“Customers love our dirty fries topped with slow-roasted pulled pork, spicy mayo, and rojo sauce,” Cassie shares. “The charcuterie board with sliced meats, cheeses, grapes, mixed nuts, and our raspberry habanero jam is another favorite appetizer.”

The lunch menu boasts a wide variety from juicy burgers and delectable sandwiches to mushroom risotto and meatball marinara. If you’re vegan or just feel like something different, try the Skinny Buddha or the Green Machine burger. On the lighter side, choose from six fresh-made salads ranging from a classic Caesar to a wedge salad and Southwest chicken salad.

The dinner menu, with 17 mouthwatering options, includes Chef Hernandez’s famous Texas “Heatloaf” with jalapenos and fire-roasted tomatoes. Or perhaps you’re in the mood for a perfectly prepared steak, grilled salmon, or chicken breast stuffed with tomatoes, bacon, spinach, and mozzarella cheese. You can even create your own flatbread, choosing up to three toppings.

Last but not least, the dessert menu offers a nice assortment. And here’s a tip — save room for the Texas Beignets covered in cinnamon sugar and served with either chocolate or caramel sauce.

Wines, Craft Beers, Spirits, and Cocktails

Offering 45 different types of wine, Cassie explains that Uncork’d is wine-centric but not wine exclusive. “We also have a wide array of craft beers and spirits, and both traditional and artisanal cocktails,” she says.

The cozy, convivial bar offers daily happy hour drink and appetizer specials. Pop in on a Friday or Saturday, enjoy appetizers, cocktails, and live music that begins around 7:00 to 8:00 PM.

“We feature talented local duos and solo artists, and the volume isn’t so loud you can’t hold a conversation,” Cassie says. “People love to order a few of our small plate appetizers to share, then just sit back and enjoy good company and music.”
