Crowning Moment

Miss Texas' Outstanding Teen Named


J-Belle Kimbrell of Dallas was named 2022 Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen on July 9 at the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts in Richardson. She was crowned by outgoing titleholder Katherine Omo-Osagie.

Kimbrell accepted the crown and a $7,500 scholarship for her college education provided by the Miss Texas Scholarship Organization. The 18-year-old resides in Dallas, where she attends Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Her social impact initiative focuses on preventing distracted driving. She also earned the $500 Preliminary Talent award with a vocal performance of “The Wizard and I,” along with a $500 On-Stage Question in Evening Gown award. Kimbrell will represent Texas at the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competition held August 10-12 at the Hyatt Regency in Dallas, where she hopes to become the third Texan to win the national title.

The Miss Texas Scholarship Organization awarded over $48,000 in cash scholarships to the 2022 Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen candidates. The 1st runner-up was Miss Lone Star’s Outstanding Teen Emily Walker, who won $3,000 in scholarships. 2nd runner-up was Miss Plano’s Outstanding Teen Danielle Walls, who won $2,500 in scholarships. 3rd runner-up was Miss Dallas’ Outstanding Teen Sheridan Garbe, who won $2,000 in scholarships, and 4th runner-up was Miss Richardson’s Outstanding Teen Delaney Koonce, who won $1,500 in scholarships.

Semi-finalists included Miss Colleyville’s Outstanding Teen Hollan Palmore, Miss DFW’s Outstanding Teen Lauren Bond, Miss Fort Worth’s Outstanding Teen Mallory Lorant, Miss Harris County’s Outstanding Teen Nyla Staes, Miss Mount Pleasant’s Outstanding Teen Breckyn Steele, Miss Texarkana’s Outstanding Teen Hannah Crook and Miss Twin Rivers’ Outstanding Teen Claire Hodge. 

Miss Texas’ Outstanding Teen is a state preliminary to the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competition, which is affiliated with the Miss America Organization. As one of the nation’s leading achievement programs, MAO Teen encourages positive achievement through service opportunities, leadership development, and scholarship assistance.
