Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center
Dr. Todd C. Johnson wants to improve the lives of his patients. For this highly skilled surgeon, improving lives begins with in-depth patient education regarding the functionality of their joints, the nature of their injury, and what their options for treatment may be going forward.
“I’m a surgeon, but I always see surgery as a last resort,” said Dr. Johnson. “I don’t want to see people living in pain, and I do everything I can to bring them back to full health.”
Beyond patient education, Dr. Johnson works with patients and gives them choices in their treatment, whether that is low impact exercise, physical therapy, or medication. He sees total joint replacement as a last resort. When the pain from osteoarthritis limits activities and mobility to the point that it decreases quality of life, Dr. Johnson is the orthopedic surgeon you want on your team if total joint replacement is your best option.
“Dr. Johnson performed a knee replacement for me in January, 2012. I was released seven months early and can do things that I haven’t done in 15 years,” said Liz, a patient of Dr. Johnson’s. “I easily go up and down stairs and can walk forever on this knee. He was also very informative and really cared about getting me back on my feet and on the road to a healthy life style. I am most appreciative for all that he and his staff did for me.”
Dr. Johnson also works closely with the sports trainers for Garland and Heath High Schools, and has an open door for all athletes. His work with athletes includes fractures, broken bones, and torn ACLs. A 20-year resident of North Texas, Dr. Johnson considers Rockwall his home and is an active member of the community. “Treating a sports injury has lasting effects, and my goal is to restore these young athletes to full health and a full range of motion.”
