Sleep. It refreshes the body like no other activity. It is comforting and even essential to survival. Even though we spend a third of our lives asleep, most of us don’t give it a moment’s notice. Until we can’t sleep.
There are countless reasons people don’t get a good night’s sleep—insomnia, a partner who snores, sleep apnea, pain. For millions of people, the consequences of a poor night’s sleep—including higher stress, increased mistakes, and difficulty concentrating—are everyday occurrences. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Dr. Shab Krish, Director of TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre, has dedicated her life to helping her patients feel good so they can sleep well. A trained endodontist and periodontist, Dr. Krish has more than 28 years of clinical experience. But it was her own experience with TMJ and the pain it causes that led her to pursue additional training in the fascinating field of TMJ and sleep therapy.
“What I discovered is that you cannot ignore TMJ problems,” she said. “The quality of my life was drastically improved by these treatments, and I knew then that I wanted to dedicate my life to this field.” Dr. Krish went on to receive TMJ training through the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, Dental Sleep Medicine at the University of California Los Angeles and the Steve Olmos TMJ and Dental Sleep Medicine Mini-Residency.
She opened the doors to TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre in 2009. Most of her patients are referred by oral surgeons, general dentists, sleep physicians, and even cardiologists. With specialized training in sleep and TMJ disorders, periodontics, endodontics and implantology, Dr. Krish offers many comprehensive treatments, including cold laser therapy that helps ease the pain in root canals and gum surgery as well. They provide oral appliances for patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea and those that are CPAP-intolerant.
From children to adults, Dr. Krish has helped countless individuals enjoy better rest and better health.
“After years of being in pain, Dr. Krish treated me for TMJ and now I am pain-free and can sleep through the night. She has dedicated her life to learning and changing quality of life for her patients.” —BR
“Through Dr. Krish’s experience and expertise, I have my life back. I suffered severe jaw and neck pain, headaches, sleeplessness, and struggled with pain on a daily basis needing pain medication or muscle relaxers to function. Thanks to the care and to the specific orthotic appliances for both day and night, I am pain-free and no longer need medication. I recommend Dr. Krish to anyone seeking relief and quality back into their life.”—MF
