Is plastic surgery safe?

It is extremely safe because of modern advancements in anesthesia and surgical techniques. Plastic surgery is held to the highest safety standards. That said, it is important that you are evaluated and treated by board-certified physicians in a licensed and certified facility. When you confirm these credentials, you can be reassured of the highest safety standards.

How do I know if I’m a good candidate for plastic surgery?

I recommend getting a complimentary consultation. You can schedule one at TheWoodlandsPlasticSurgery.co. Our basic criterion for plastic surgery is that you are overall healthy, you are a normal weight, and you follow a healthy diet and activity regimen. Then we can narrow down to determine which procedure is best for you.

How do I prepare for a procedure?

The best way to prepare is to continue your current healthy lifestyle and maintain a healthy activity regimen. You should avoid dieting before surgery because your body needs calories to heal. We want you well-nourished and at your best. I also recommend taking a multivitamin and zinc supplement once a day. It’s a good idea to avoid foods with high fat and high salt content because these foods can increase swelling.

What should I expect after a procedure?

The best way to recover is to follow the recommendations and instructions from your preoperative visit. Depending on what procedures you get, your restrictions and recovery can vary. For example, you may only need a day to recover from a small area of liposuction, but if you have a full mommy makeover with breast augmentation and a full tummy tuck, you will be more limited in your activities for longer. The most important thing is to not overdo it. Plastic surgery is considered outpatient, so in most cases, you can go home the same day. In some operations, like a mommy makeover, I recommend staying overnight.

Is it safe to come in? I’m concerned about COVID-19.

Yes, it is extremely safe to come in for an evaluation or treatment. We follow guidelines from the CDC and our local hospitals. We screen individuals, require face masks for patients and staff, and escort patients directly to their room to avoid interaction with others.

Will I get a natural-looking result with my procedure?

The secret to obtaining a natural result is realistic goals and good judgment on the part of the surgeon. When results do not look natural, it is often because the surgeon overdid things, whether it is aggressive liposuction that looks unnatural, or over-done filler in the lips. Aside from being a surgeon, I’m an artist. I draw as well as sculpt. My office features bronze sculptures I’ve created from clay. I have studied the female form from a scientific as well as artistic perspective, so I understand proportions, shapes, and relationships and how to make the female form look natural.
