The Woodlands Institute For Health & Wellness

When patients come to The Woodlands Institute for Health and Wellness with health issues, toting bags of prescriptions and carrying extra weight, Dr. McManus is truly empathetic. She knows how her patients feel because she was once plagued with many of the same health issues.

“I was on 12 medications that didn’t fix my problems and I felt horrible,” Dr. McManus said. “Today I’ve replaced those health issues, and all of those medications, with a healthy diet, bio-identical hormones and vitamins. I’ve never felt better.”

Dr. McManus, along with Sandra Caldwell, PA-C, and Dyvette Warren, PA-C, see patients every day who seek a better way of life—a wellness approach rather than a ‘mask your symptoms with prescription drugs’ tactic. “I define wellness as everything we doctors don’t learn in medical school,” Dr. McManus said. So passionate about her mission, she initially worked from home and made house calls. Today her practice has grown to a 5000-square-foot wellness center, where her team has treated thousands of patients, most locally, but many from around the globe.

Dr. McManus and her team specialize in:

  • bio-identical hormone replacement therapy
  • treatment of thyroid and adrenal problems
  • rapid fat loss program
  • GAPS diet
  • nutritional services
  • treatment of yeast and other forms of dysbiosis
  • no-shot allergy treatment for environmental allergies
  • specialty diagnostic testing: including nutrient analysis, food sensitivities, heavy metals, saliva testing for hormones, brain chemistry and neurotransmitter testing

“Wellness in The Woodlands may seem pretty mainstream but, outside our area, wellness doctors are the needle in the haystack,” Dr. McManus said. Services have expanded over the years to include many nutritional services, allergy treatment, a rapid weight-loss program and have now added pellet therapy and some aesthetic services. “Our practice is on the cutting-edge of wellness, focused on slowing the aging process and helping people live longer and feel better.”

The Woodlands Institute for Health and Wellness now offers pellet therapy, a testosterone replacement for men and women. Benefits of optimizing testosterone include:

  • increased stamina and energy
  • increased muscle mass and fat loss
  • increased libido
  • reduced risk of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia
  •  reduced risk of heart disease and breast cancer

Dr. McManus became a certified GAPS practitioner in 2012 to add a more intensive program for the more chronically health-challenged patients, such as those with auto-immune disease, fibromyalgia, and autism spectrum disorders. The Woodlands Institute for Health and Wellness was selected LIVING magazine Readers’ ‘Best of’ in three categories and has been voted the ‘Best of’ by Woodlands Online for the past four years. Patients include males and females—ages two and up.  “Everyone can benefit from what we do,” said Dr. McManus
