Truly iconic homes reach far beyond descriptive words like one-of-a-kind or unique.
Born from dreams, inspiration, and innovation, they are timeless. The Hudson House in Rockwall is one of these homes.
For builder and developer Chad Hudson and his wife, Lindsay, a practicing attorney, it was a chicken and egg scenario between the home design and the land. Drawn to mid-century architectural elements reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright, their vision of the perfect family home soared when they saw the lot. In turn, the possibilities of the land ignited their dream of a sleek, calming, bright home with livable spaces that seamlessly integrate with the outdoors.
Soon, Chad and Lindsay began a decade-long journey that included the whole family, with ideas and input from their two daughters incorporated into the design. Their vision culminated with the completion of the stunning Hudson House. Situated on an ideal elevation in the established Chandlers Landing lakeside community of Rockwall, window walls frame the outdoors and capture natural light. Vistas and views are complemented with meticulously designed landscaping that blends the indoor-outdoor boundaries.
“I’m a perfectionist and a planner,” Chad says. “This home is over-engineered down to the last little detail, from functional elements that enhance the living experience and the home’s efficiency, to engineered commercial site design and drainage systems.”
Everything you see in the Hudson House, and many you don’t, such as hidden construction details, were analyzed and carefully selected for complete customization and quality. A good example is the easily accessible, centrally located, ground-level mechanical room with HVAC, tankless hot water heaters, and the main shut off valve for the house. Chad even installed synthetic grass around the pool so clippings wouldn’t interfere with the visual aesthetic.
After enjoying their dream home for a few years, the Hudson’s decided to list it with the Rod Holland Real Estate Group. “We built the house as our forever home, but the experience was so much fun for our family we’re ready to do it again,” says Lindsay.
The decision to move to a beautiful lakefront property in Hideaway Lake near Lindale, Texas, is also coupled with Chad’s desire to bring his real estate development, building, and design expertise to East Texas.
“We’re moving an hour away, but our hearts and my business, Savoy Companies, will be forever tied to the Rockwall community,” Chad says. “I’ll be commuting to Rockwall regularly. Savoy has other properties in development here and my partner, Chris Pruitt, remains in Rockwall.”
