Your sight and vision help you connect to the world around you. However, there’s more to good vision than seeing the letters on the eye chart from a distance of 20 feet (20/20). If you think about how you use your eyes throughout the day, you are usually looking at things further away than 20 feet or at things around 16-18 inches away, when reading.

Dr. Justin Chelette, founder of Texas Vision Therapy, is helping people of all ages change their visual experience for the better. His specialty Optometry practice offers numerous services, including Developmental Optometry, Vision Therapy, Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation, and Sports Vision Therapy.

As a child, Dr. Chelette suffered from strabismus — also known as crossed eyes. After experiencing the positive benefits of vision therapy, he knew he wanted to help others overcome their vision issues.

“Many people struggle unnecessarily due to undiagnosed vision disorders,” he says. “I want to help them live a better quality of life.”

Get to Know Dr. Chelette

Dr. Chelette grew up in the Houston area and attended the University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University in Florida, graduating with the highest honors. He completed an accredited residency program in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation at the Rosenberg School of Optometry.

Additionally, Dr. Chelette worked as an assistant professor at the Kentucky College of Optometry, where he taught Neuro-Ophthalmology courses. He also supervised 4th year students in the Optometry clinic at Pikeville Medical Center as well as in the pediatric clinic at the Kentucky College of Optometry.

Currently, in addition to providing care at Texas Vision Therapy, Dr. Chelette is adjunct faculty at the University of Houston College of Optometry.

Who Can Benefit from Vision Therapy?

There are many different types of vision problems that cannot be corrected with glasses, contacts or surgery that can impact how we function in our daily lives. These vision problems are treatable with Vision Therapy. Vision therapy can help people of all ages — including infants and older adults — improve their visual function on many levels. When vision problems lead to learning difficulties, trouble remembering what one has read, or occur after experiencing a concussion, Dr. Chelette can help.
