Few of us can attest to deciding our career path even before we could drive a car, but Guy Lewis, D.D.S., realized as a seventh grader that dentistry was his calling. Fast forward to a career over three decades in the making and you’ll still feel the enthusiasm for his chosen path when you meet him.

Today his practice consists of a team of dedicated professionals—including general dentists, a periodontist, an endodontist, hygienists and support staff—who work together to provide patients with the entire spectrum of dentistry. While Dr. Lewis’ passion lends more toward cosmetic dentistry and all its artistry, his office is well-equipped to handle routine exams, cleanings, extractions, fillings and more.

Meet Dr. Guy M. Lewis

In 1984, Dr. Lewis earned a Doctor of Dentistry from Baylor College of Dentistry, the same year he co-founded the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) with other nationally-renowned dentists. In 1988, Dr. Lewis became accredited by the AACD, the youngest cosmetic dentist to ever do so, and currently one of less than 300 dentists worldwide to obtain this honor. Over his storied career, he has built a reputable practice that provides dental care for patients—from friends and neighbors to celebrities and professional athletes. Some of his involvement, awards and designations include:

  • Repeatedly named a “Super Dentist” by TexasMonthly magazine and a “Top Doc” by H Texas magazine
  • Recipient of the Pinnacle Award from the Better Business Bureau for customer satisfaction, the only dentist to ever receive this award
  • Served as official cosmetic dentist for the Houston Rockets and Rocket Powerdancers, the Houston Astros, the Houston Aeros, as well as several pageants including Miss Texas, Miss Teen Texas, and Miss Hawaiian Tropic
  • One of only a handful of Texas cosmetic dentists to receive fellowship in the International Academy for Dental Facial Esthetics
  • Adjunct professor of dentistry at Baylor College of Dentistry
  • Featured speaker at annual AACD conventions
  • Member of Texas Dental Association and American Dental Association

  • crowns and bridges
  • and more!

Defining Cosmetic Dentistry

The title ‘cosmetic dentist’ is routinely adopted by dentists across the nation, but no such subspecialty is officially recognized by the American Dental Association. Therefore, Dr. Lewis suggests patients be diligent in their research. As a founding member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, he’s worked side-by-side with dentists across the nation in perfecting products and procedures to enhance their patients’ smiles.

“Right out of dental school, I had the honor of being invited to be on the ground floor of an organization that has pioneered the field of cosmetic dentistry,” Dr. Lewis said. “As a result, I’ve been able to establish my practice as a world-class center for cosmetic dental procedures. Over the past 30 years I’ve completed tens of thousands of porcelain restorations and even developed my own non-prep veneers when patients were requesting a product I knew wouldn’t meet the standards I set for
my practice.”

He also sees a large percentage of patients who are unhappy with work they’ve had performed elsewhere. “Not all dentists are created equal,” Dr. Lewis said. “For example, a patient of mine had upper veneers put on by me and chose a cheaper version at another office for her lower teeth. She came back unhappy because they didn’t look as good or fit precisely, which will cause problems later. In the end, you’ll save a lot of time and money getting quality dental work done right the first time.”

The most important thing to consider is you have options. And that starts with choosing an experienced dental professional like Dr. Lewis. Scheduling a consultation is your next step, where you’ll meet with a treatment coordinator who will listen to your concerns and answer any questions you might have. “We have several options to explore to help people get the smile they want,” Dr. Lewis said. “We can even produce a before-and-after image that’s really helpful, so patients can visualize what we can do for them. Our goal is to give them enough information to make a decision that’s best for them.”
