When Swapnil Sharma says she came to her thriving real estate career by accident, she’s quick to add, “Of course, there are no accidents.” As a young woman, she was looking for a career that would be flexible and would offer a good work/life balance. She always enjoys problem-solving. So, she wanted a career that would challenge her mentally and require her to constantly reeducate herself. When she happened upon a local realtor who needed an assistant, she had no idea how her own skillset would perfectly dovetail with the realty industry.

Client Advocate

Now with her own highly seasoned, ten-person team, Swapnil says the most important skill any realtor can possess is the ability to understand which property is the best fit for which client. “Anyone can be a real estate agent,” she said. “Not everyone can be a good one. The process is fun but there’s also a lot of hard work that goes into finding the perfect home for a family then walking them through all the details involved in buying it. My team and I have all been there, done that. My biggest move was moving here from India in 2000 and I know what a labyrinth the real estate process can be. We’re here to make that labyrinth easier on our clients, to walk side by side with them, to anticipate the 101 details that come between finding the perfect home and the first night they sleep on it. We never want to forget that buying or selling a home is more than just a transaction for our clients. It’s a life-changing experience.”

Finding Your Dream Home

For Swapnil, the process begins as she gets to know the client. “The more I know about someone, the better able I am to find the right fit for them,” she said. “Often, we understand more than they do about what will fit and what won’t. More than once, I’ve had to explain to a client that buying the house they think they want is not a good idea. Once we find the right home for a client though we usually have a client for life. In fact, that’s our goal when a client calls for the first time. We don’t just want to help them buy or sell a home. We want them to call us again when they’re ready to upgrade, then when it’s time to downsize or time to consider an investment property. And we want them to tell their friends and family about us. I’m happy to report that most of our business comes either from clients we’ve helped before or referrals from previous clients. That tells us we must be doing something right.” The Sharma Group also works closely with top local builders for clients who want to build a custom home, walking them through that process as well.

Seller’s Market

The Sharma Group is currently working in an unprecedented seller’s market. “Properties aren’t just selling in days of being listed but sometimes in hours,” Swapnil said. “But there’s still a lot we can do to find them the right buyer at the best price. Listing the property on the right sites — and all the right sites — staging it to sell, getting photographs that capture the uniqueness of each property, offering premier concierge services to renovate or make small repairs and upgrades, and fielding offers are just a few of the services we provide for our sellers. This year we’ve had to do a lot of thinking outside the box, being creative and innovative. But I have an amazing team, and they’ve really wowed me with their ideas on how to put the best foot forward for our clients — every time.”

COVID-19 Safety

In this time of heightened safety, The Sharma Group is taking extra steps to keep buyers and seller safe from the spread of COVID. “We counsel with our sellers to do things like keeping cabinet doors open and lights on, so potential buyers don’t have to touch as much,” Swapnil said. “We provide hand sanitizer, masks, and booties for shoes, during each viewing. We also post high-quality videos of our properties, so buyers are only visiting the properties they know they’re interested in. I have an amazing team. They work so hard but also make my job fun.
