Justin Seaman, DDS, MD
When someone dreads a particular event, they often say “I’d rather go to the dentist.” Sadly, most people equate dentistry with pain. Dr. Justin Seaman, an oral surgeon, hopes to change that perception. He says, “When oral surgery is done properly, 99 percent of the time it should be painless. There should be no pain during or after the surgery when all instructions are followed.”
A key component in successful oral treatment is catching issues before they progress too far. Dr. Seaman frequently treats patients who have stalled treatment because of the “cloud of fear” that stigmatizes dentistry. He wants people to realize the importance of dealing with routine dental issues, such as wisdom tooth extraction and removal or replacement of bad teeth before they become a larger problem. All the doctors and exceptional staff at Summerwood Oral Surgery work to ease patients’ fear and anxiety associated with these commonplace procedures. The rave reviews on Facebook and Google testify to their success. Dr. Seaman’s goal is to treat every patient as family.
The All-on-4 treatment concept is a graft-less procedure that restores a patient’s full arch with as few as four implants. All-on-4 is designed for people who have no choice but to remove their teeth and start over. The doctor spends two days a week at ClearChoice Dental Implant Center in Houston performing this procedure and has completed 150 to 200 All-on-4 surgeries in the last year alone. It has become one of his favorite surgeries. “I love doing them,” says Dr. Seaman. For most patients, it is truly life-transforming.”
Though he originally attended dental school to become an orthodontist, that plan quickly changed. “I was blessed to be able to provide dental work to people in Jamaica and Nicaragua during outreaches while attending NYU,” says Dr. Seaman. “That’s where my love for oral surgery started. The seed was planted and watered.” The impact he had on those lives inspired him to change his course—and he’s never regretted that decision. For his next outreach, Dr. Seaman is interested in helping those with cleft lip and palate deformities. He currently works with a faith-based organization to provide dental care to those who cannot afford it, and hopes that opportunity will grow over time.
Dr. Seaman went to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, where he obtained his medical degree and certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Seaman holds certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). When Dr. Seaman is not in the office, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Angela, and seven year old son, Vincente. He is very health conscious, so he stays active and current on the latest health trends and alternative treatments.
“Great staff, nice office, good experience. My ten-year-old son was put at ease about his procedure after meeting with the staff, so much so that by the time he had his extraction, he was completely calm.”
“I must say this has been the best dental experience I have ever had. Dr. Justin and staff were very attentive to all my questions and needs. I had several extractions done and I have had little pain and everything is healing nicely. Everyone was very patient and kind which made me feel at ease. Thank you! You’re the best!”
