Southlake, Texas 76092
Southlake’s Advanced Spine and Orthopedics is proud to introduce its newest team member, Dr. Scott Hrnack, a board certified and fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in knee pain, shoulder pain and sports medicine. Dr. Hrnack joins Dr. Kevin James, founder of Advanced Spine and Orthopedics, one of the leading spine and orthopedics practices in the area. Dr. James is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopedic spine surgeon.
“I’m excited to join Dr. James here in Southlake,” said Dr. Hrnack. “We have similar approaches to helping patients. We love to see patients do well. Whether it’s helping young aspiring athletes return to a sport they love or helping the 45-year-old golfer get back out on the course or even just helping someone to be free of pain, it’s all the same to us. There is a very gratifying, satisfying feeling of accomplishment when you can help someone in that way.”
Meet Dr. Hrnack
Dr. Hrnack’s interest and ultimate pursuit of medicine was birthed out of his prestigious athletic background. A highly competitive gymnast in high school (he graduated from J.J. Pearce in Richardson), Dr. Hrnack attended Syracuse University on athletic and academic scholarships. With growing success at the local, state and national level in gymnastics, he earned a spot on the Team 2000 USA National Gymnastics Squad in 1996.
When a shoulder injury requiring surgery brought him home to Dallas, he began to think about a career in orthopedic medicine. “My surgeon really made an impression on me,” said Dr. Hrnack. “He had a great bedside manner and demeanor and he really inspired me by how well he cared for me during and after that surgery.” Dr. Hrnack took the same discipline and determination that had earned him a spot on the Team USA gymnastics squad and poured it into pursuing medicine.
After completing medical school, orthopedic residency, and a rigorous fellowship in Arthroscopic Procedures and Sports Management, Dr. Hrnack joined the medical team at Advanced Spine and Orthopedics. “Being an athlete helps me connect with my patients in a genuine way,” said Dr. Hrnack. “In all phases of my medical training, I’ve been on both sides of the equation. I’ve been the patient and I’ve been the doctor. I’ve even been a surgical patient since becoming a doctor. I believe all these experiences—these powerful moments—have helped me to be a better doctor for my patients.” Dr. Hrnack and his wife live in Keller, just a few miles from his Southlake practice.
