Periodontal disease requires treatment from an expert because it involves more than a simple case of tartar removal from the teeth. If left untreated, it can lead to bleeding gums, receding gum lines and ultimately, tooth loss. Board-certified periodontist Dr. Sarosh Dastoor of Precision Periodontics and Implant Dentistry is rigorously trained in the field of oral health and works closely with general dentists to treat and monitor the progress of patients with even the most advanced periodontal disease. Dr. Dastoor’s educational background and experience include training at the best universities in the nation. His website includes his background, advice on various periodontal treatments, and the opportunity for patients to make online appointments.
“The mouth reveals a lot about the overall health of a person,” said Dr. Dastoor. “Studies indicate that periodontal disease may increase the risk for other diseases like diabetes, stroke, and heart disease.” Additionally, certain diseases such as diabetes can raise the risk of developing periodontal disease. Pregnant women should be aware that low-birth weights and preterm deliveries of babies have been linked to a mother’s periodontal health.”
Comprehensive and Expert Care for Periodontal Disease and Implant Dentistry
Dr. Dastoor performs all periodontal and dental implant procedures. He is one of the few board-certified periodontists in the Cy-Fair region. He has special training and expertise in performing dental implants, gum grafts, periodontal flap surgery, bone grafting surgery, and sedation dentistry. Dr. Dastoor pursues extensive continuing education so he can provide his patients with the most advanced techniques possible.
Dental implants look like teeth, act like teeth, and usually last as long as natural teeth. Thus, they are an excellent treatment option to replace broken or missing teeth. Dental implants are placed in the jawbone to replace the missing root of the tooth. Implants are fixed and permanent. “I trained with some of the best implant professors and experts in the country,” said Dr. Dastoor. “However, it’s important for my patients to know that I do not over diagnose. I take a conservative approach and I am committed to saving tooth structure wherever possible.
“One of the things I enjoy most about this specialty is that I get to develop long-term relationships with my patients. Treating periodontal disease and maintaining dental implants are long term commitments and I enjoy working with patients over time to help them achieve better health and function.”

He is extremely happy to have made Houston his permanent home when he started his practice in 2009. Dr. Dastoor is married and is also a state-ranked competitive tennis player. He enjoys going to the rodeo, eating barbeque and exploring the state with his golden retriever. “I feel like a Texan already,” he said.
