Situated high atop a hill in picturesque Argyle, Santé Center for Healing guides individuals and families to long-term addiction recovery and provides non-addiction treatment services as well. The 24 year old, internationally renowned organization offers a recovery continuum of care, including detox services, residential program, intensive outpatient, transitional living, family counseling, monitoring, and aftercare/alumni support. Santé Center for Healing also offers several non-addiction treatment services, including individual therapy, co-dependency workshops, and trauma intensive therapy workshops.
The mission of Santé Center for Healing is to address addictive behaviors and associated conditions with an integrated addiction treatment model, drawing from traditional and innovative approaches.
“We primarily treat chemical dependency, but we also treat eating disorders, trauma, behavioral health, and any process addiction, such as gambling or problematic sexual behavior,” says Dr. Melissa Pennington, medical director. “While many other treatment programs focus only on alcoholism or other drug addiction, we treat everything at the same time at Santé.”
Dr. Pennington, who is a board-certified adult psychiatrist and a Diplomat of the American Board of Addiction Psychiatry, says each level of care is individualized to each client’s needs. However, individuals don’t have to check into Santé Center for Healing’s residential program to receive help. The center’s outpatient clinic welcomes and serves the general public across North Texas.
“We offer outpatient programs in a welcoming, friendly, and non-judgmental environment,” says Preji Somar, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who is also a licensed professional counselor and a professor at Midwestern State University.
The outpatient clinic at Santé Center for Healing helps those who feel anxious, depressed, angry, grief, or lost. These clients learn how to identify, adapt, and effectively deal with difficult times with the help of Santé’s team of professionals. The outpatient clinic provides services for both mental health and substance abuse, including individual therapy, psychological testing, psychiatric services including medication management, and even nutritional counseling with a licensed dietitian.
Somar explains that rather than just making a diagnosis and giving a medication, Santé’s highly trained staff helps people understand different diagnoses and disorders and what’s causing them.
“We help people understand how addictions affect families,” Somar says
“The benefit of seeing providers here is that we have experience in addictions, trauma, and a variety of disorders. We can also see clients who don’t have a history of a specific addiction but suffer from depression or anxiety.”
Since 1996, Santé Center for Healing has provided treatment with integrity and promoted wellness for clients in a safe and pleasant setting.
If you or a loved one need help, take the first step by calling Santé Center for Healing. “Even if someone is not sure what they need or they just want someone to talk to, I encourage them to call,” says Dr. Pennington. “They can talk to master’s-level therapists from the very first time they make contact.”
Somar adds that Santé’s team is here to encourage anyone from North Texas who may be going through a difficult time. “We’re here to help, whether you choose to get treatment or not,” she says. “There is great courage in deciding to make the phone call.”
