Lake Pointe Dentistry
Did you know when you smile your brain thinks you’re happy? In spite of the emotion, or lack thereof, your brain registers a smile as happiness; consequently, it releases feel-good neurotransmitters (dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin) into your body that brings a feeling of pleasure. Though one might not feel instant joy with the initial smile, over time this practice can have significant positive health effects.
Sadly, many people don’t smile as often as they’d like because they’re embarrassed by their teeth. Enter Rick LeFlore, DDS, dentist and proprietor of Lake Pointe Dentistry. Dr. LeFlore says, “It’s been said that 90 percent of the impression we give comes through our smile. Nothing makes me happier than helping a patient who is self-conscious about their teeth, even unwilling to smile, realize the dream of a spectacular Hollywood smile.” He has performed smile makeovers on Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and Dallas Mavericks Dancers, but takes equal satisfaction in improving the teeth of anyone who desires a beautiful smile.
Dr. LeFlore has used porcelain veneers and dental implants to remake smiles for salesmen, professional speakers, stay-at-home moms, grandmothers and middle-aged folks who have realized their smile has faded. He says, “It doesn’t take much to make your smile look spectacular again, but it can make all the difference in the way you look and feel about yourself. Procedures that correct bite and enable my patients to chew normally again and live free of headaches and jaw pain are just as important.”
Dr. LeFlore is dedicated to his patients and has been in the area since 1994 and at his current location for seven years. His patient-first attitude has grown Lake Pointe Dentistry into a multi-generational office. He treats ages from three up. Patient satisfaction is more than apparent as some of his charts date back to 1970! Dr. Leflore and his staff are always accommodating and he is determined to “take care of patients regardless of what that means.”
In some cases, patients want a pain-free experience. While not always possible, Dr. Leflore does offer laser dental treatment which allows the patient to undergo procedures without numbing—which means no needles. Dr. LeFlore says, “Dental knowledge and technology has advanced to such a point that there’s no reason a trip to see your dentist should be anything but a pleasant experience. When a patient is very nervous about seeing me, that’s when I know I need to slow down and just listen, let them ask as many questions as they need to, and lay out all the treatment options so they can make an educated decision about how we will proceed.” He also provides oral sedation for his most anxious patients.
In addition, Lake Pointe Dentistry offers cures for sleep apnea and snoring conditions. They offer great alternatives to the bulky CPAC machine—mouth guards or retainers work just as well, are compact, and travel-friendly. Patients are pleasantly surprised by both the simplicity and the effectiveness.
Lake Pointe Dentistry prides itself on customer care, but doesn’t skimp on technology either. Patients often drive by several dentist offices to get to him and he believes it’s his job to make sure it’s worth their time. With that in mind, he has acquired the latest in dental technology such as digital x-rays that minimize radiation and a state of the art laser to fill teeth without giving an injection (a key ingredient in providing a better dental experience for younger patients).
Dr. LeFlore is committed to his community and looks for ways he and his staff can serve. When the devastating tornado struck Rowlett a couple of years ago, Dr. LeFlore organized an effort to help the victims. He and four other area doctors offered free dental care. CBS Channel 11 and KLTY Radio covered the event. Dr. LeFlore made this statement, “Since we moved to Rowlett five years ago, this community has welcomed us with open arms. We’d like to say ‘thanks’ by providing free dentistry to all the tornado victims in the area. We hope you’ll spread the word to family and friends who were victimized by the natural disaster.”
The word spread like wildfire and by the end of the event they’d given away $30,000 worth of free dentistry. They fixed broken teeth and filled cavities. Hygienists offered dental cleanings. “We just did whatever anyone needed us to do.” Dr. LeFlore said. “It was a great feeling to be able to do something for the families, when it could have been any of us who lost our home.”
Lake Pointe Dentistry is dedicated to its patients and its community. Over the years they’ve participated in food drives for the North Texas Food Bank and sold t-shirts to raise money for a local cancer patient. When they see a need, they do what they can to meet it. Dr. LeFlore says, “I guess that’s the nature of a family practice. We really get to know our patients, often several generations of a family. We watch the kids grow up, go off to college, get married, and then return with their own kids. Most of my staff has been here a long time and we really are like a family. What matters to our patients matters to us.” Lake Pointe Dentistry is currently accepting new patients.
Outside of the office, Dr. LeFlore enjoys spending time with his wife and eight children. He enjoys mountain biking and riding his Harley. He looks forward to serving all your future dental needs.
