Rebecca Chilvers, MD

Fertility Specialists of Texas

By Sydni Ellis

After giving birth twice in her mid-to-late 30s, Rebecca Chilvers, MD, gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for the difficulties of childbearing. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and in reproductive endocrinology and infertility.

Dedicated to helping couples conceive children at Fertility Specialists of Texas, Dr. Chilvers has seen the amazing things science can do firsthand. She said, “I’m thankful for modern medicine and my children, and I want to bring the same joy I feel as a parent to other people.”

After receiving her undergraduate degree at Baylor University and her medical degree at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, Dr. Chilvers completed her residency, subspecialty training, and Master of Medical Science degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She has specialized training on the da Vinci Surgical System, using it to perform robotic-assisted minimally invasive surgery for complex procedures such as myomectomies and tubal reversals.

Dr. Chilvers is especially interested in endocrinology, surgery, and helping women by utilizing innovative technologies and advanced science.

The magic of science is why she wanted to go into this field in the first place. She loves the study of hormones, which are “complex yet coordinated. “One hormone can have a significant impact on the body,” she explained. “Changing little things can make a big difference.”

Fertility Specialists of Texas is a team of six physicians across several locations who combine the most effective treatments with clinical experience using a personalized approach. As a result, they have high pregnancy rates. “Patients should find a clinic that couples high statistics with good practice, so you can have a good experience,” Dr. Chilvers explained. Each day, Dr. Chilvers works to bring her patients the best experience possible by doing an expert job medically, evaluating patients, and creating tailored treatment plans, and educating, cheering with, and advocating for her patients.

Everything Dr. Chilvers does revolves around women. “Women do a lot for their families and go through a lot and try to balance a lot,” she said. “Men go through a lot as well, but many times women feel a responsibility to make it happen.”

Throughout her career, she’s had many memorable moments. She loves seeing positive pregnancy tests and healthy babies on ultrasounds. “People have come in with poor obstetrical outcomes or losses or genetic problems, and I’ve been able to steer the course of their reproduction to have a good outcome,” Dr. Chilvers said. “I don’t ever take a healthy baby for granted. It’s been so rewarding to help couples go from a place of desperation to joy, peace, and fulfillment.”

Make an appointment to discover your reproductive options as well as gain information on freezing eggs to be used when you’re ready to start a family. “It can be isolating to go through infertility, but we’re here and advocating for you,” said Dr. Chilvers. “Our jobs are dedicated to helping you have success. We are blessed with a good team, and we have the best that science has to offer.”
