Pleasant Ridge Internal Medicine

Pleasant Ridge Internal Medicine MAN SD Profile 16-3_WEBAs wives and mothers, it often falls to us to find a physician for our families; a partner in caring for the ones who mean the most to us. For hundreds of Arlington area women that choice was made easier when they made the acquaintance of Dr. Chelsea Doyen, a healthcare provider who understands how important it is just to listen to her patients. Together with Dr. Theresa Stretch and the team at Pleasant Ridge Internal Medicine she helps provide a true “medical home”, a welcoming environment where care is patient-centered, comprehensive, team-based, coordinated, accessible, and focused on quality and safety. Drs. Doyen and Stretch allow patients the time they need to ask questions and receive thorough answers, empowering them with the knowledge they need to make wise wellness decisions for themselves and their family.

A wife, mother, and daughter herself, she understands the challenges of balancing work and home life and of ferreting out the truth in all the healthcare information (and misinformation) coming our way each day. “I began my work life in the field of advertising after graduation from Texas A & M,” she said. “But I wanted to do something more fulfilling; something that would allow me to impact others’ lives. My grandmother had had an unexplained close call with her health, a few years earlier which sparked an interest in medicine and the human body. I realized I could connect with people as a healthcare provider and the passion grew in me over the years, until I returned to school for a second degree.”

Armed with a medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in the West Indies and after successful completion of a family medicine residency, Dr. Doyen achieved board certification from American Board of Family Medicine and joined the team at Pleasant Ridge Internal Medicine where she’s able to care for everyone from teenagers through seniors and to get to know several generations of a family. “I’m passionate about patient education,” she said. “I think it’s important for the patient to be informed about their medical issues and options, so that we as a team are able to make the best decisions for a positive outcome. With healthy living, patient education, and open, honest communication, we are able to partner with our patients for a lifetime of health and vitality.”

When not on the job, Dr. Doyen loves spending time with her young family. “My husband of six years and I have two children: a 3-year-old little girl and a 1-year-old little boy,” she said. “They keep us busy for sure. I also love traveling the world with my husband, snow skiing, interior design, and finding the best, little, unknown restaurants. I will try anything once.”
