Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas

Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas SD 3-16 Spot ROCK_WEB1On December 26, 2015, a tornado ripped through Rowlett and Garland, taking eight lives and destroying innumerable homes and businesses. In the midst of a community’s grief and destruction also came an outpouring of support and kindnesses in the close-knit community just outside of Dallas.

Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas lost their Rowlett office on that night. Although some equipment was salvageable, the building was a total loss.

“Because of our multiple locations, we were able to move patients to the other offices and no patient appointments had to be cancelled. We were then able to start in our temporary location within two weeks,” said Dr. Walstad. “We were thrilled to be both fully-staffed and fully-functional by the middle of January.”

William R. Walstad, DDS; Douglas J. Dingwerth, DMD, MD; Colin S. Bell, DDS, MSD; and Maxwell D. Finn, DDS, MD, make up Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas and have served the DFW Metroplex for years. But none of them were prepared for the tornado that destroyed their Rowlett office. More than anything, they were thankful for the outpouring from the community in their time of need.

“We can’t thank the community of Rowlett and the Garland area enough,” said Dr. Dingwerth. “The dental and medical communities really stepped up to offer support—including the use of office space and equipment from other physicians. We are so thankful for everyone’s concern and help.”

The new Rowlett location opened on January 14, only two weeks after the storm. Located at 6501 Dalrock Road, Suite 180, the new temporary office space is able to serve existing and new clients with the same high level of care and attention as always. They’re keeping patients up-to-date on the changes to the office and their location via social media, and have found Facebook to be the best way to keep patients up to the minute on developments with the Rowlett office.

Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas have three additional locations besides their Rowlett office, including Cedar Hill and two Dallas locations. When faced with a dental decision that requires surgery, it’s important to choose the right doctor. Wisdom teeth removal, impacted canines, and jaw surgery are all common operations that require the hands of skilled and experienced surgeons who can handle your immediate dental needs with care. At Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas, their team has the experience and training you need to handle all your oral surgical needs.

When you are making choices regarding replacing teeth, dental implants offer longevity and stability. They are far superior to any other option when it comes to tooth replacement. They look the most natural and they last longer than other options, like bridges and dentures. The implant, which is a titanium post, serves as the root. The crown is then affixed to the post, providing the stability and functionality of a real tooth. They come as close to a real tooth as possible.

At Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas, they’ve perfected an All-on-Four procedure called Teeth-in-a-Day. This procedure is for patients who have lost multiple teeth and are ready to make the decision to regain their permanent smile. This procedure is even recommended and preferred for patients who have experienced some bone loss, because the implants are secured toward the front of the jaw. The All-on-Four prosthesis is the most stable and secure option for multiple teeth replacement. They prevent jawbone resorption, which occurs with standard dentures because standard dentures have no root-like structures to anchor to the bone. There is no sliding with a permanent All-on-Four prosthesis which is supported on implants, and it doesn’t interfere with chewing or have dietary restrictions like some dentures. If you are considering dentures or multiple teeth extractions. The Teeth-in-a-Day may be right for you. The team at Oral Surgery Associates of North Texas are experienced with this procedure. Don’t trust replacing your smile to anyone other than the best team in the Metroplex!
