Brad Boccaccio, DO, MS
The first time a patient meets with Dr. Brad Boccaccio, it’s a relaxed, get-to-know-you appointment. “Patients meet with me in the office before we ever step into an exam room,” he said, “This takes extra time, but it gives me an opportunity to hear their concerns and clarify their history in a more comfortable setting, so we can solve any problems together.”
Thus, begins the close relationship between a woman and her OB-GYN. That relationship is one of the things that attracted Dr. Boccaccio to this field of medicine. “I knew I wanted to be a physician, by the time I was in high school,” he said. “In medical school I was exposed to many different specialties. But I never found one I enjoyed as much. I love operating, delivering babies, seeing patients in the office, and being able to take care of someone throughout her lifetime. Establishing those long-term relationships is what drew me into this field.”
His extra attention to providing highly personal, individualized care has not gone unnoticed. In online reviews, his patients declare him to be “very patient and understanding with his patient’s cares and concerns”, “very professional and kind,” and “awesome and down-to-earth”. One patient wrote, “Dr. Boccaccio doesn’t just care about you as a patient. He cares about you as an individual”. Another said he “made me feel so comfortable” and yet another patient wrote, “He answered all my questions and I left feeling like we had a good game plan for the next step.”
Compiling that game plan is a doctor/patient collaboration, as he makes each woman a part of her own health journey, never dictating care but taking time to educate her about her options then partnering with her in the care she chooses. “Recommendations for treatment are tailor made to each individual patient and are based on that patient’s specific situation, concerns, lifestyle, and the current medical evidence that exists for her condition or problem.”
Dr. Boccaccio is passionate about staying on top of medical advancements with continuing education far above what is required of him, so he can act as a resource for his patients. “I make an effort to stay up to date on developments in my field so I can speak with my patients in plain English, to communicate their diagnosis and what I think would work best for them,” he said. “Treatment is always ultimately up to them, but the more information I can give them, the better equipped they are to make savvy decisions. I try to think about how I’d want things communicated to my mom, sisters, or wife so they would be able to leave an appointment understanding their diagnosis and treatment plan going forward. I always try to treat people the way I’d want to be treated.”
