Have you ever asked your ob-gyn questions at your well-woman visit and sensed the doctor’s impatience to move on to the next in an assembly line of patients? Do you wish that instead of simply handing you a prescription, she would fully educate you on any relevant illnesses so you could take an active role in improving your health?
You deserve such personalized care, and you don’t have to travel far from home to find it. “At Northeast OB/GYN we treat every patient as we would our sister or our mother,” said Julie Bernell, M.D. “We pamper our patients a bit by taking as much of the hassle out of medical care as we can. We offer pregnancy massage onsite, for example, because it has been proven to help with mood swings and decrease edema. Also, we won’t just refer you to a specialist and send you on your way. We will call and make the appointment for you while you are still in our office.”
Dr. Bernell is especially proud to announce that Northeast OB/GYN is one of only two clinics in Texas to have obtained the newly FDA-approved MonaLisa Touch machine. The MonaLisa Touch offers a laser treatment for vaginal atrophy, a condition that is often caused by hormone changes associated with menopause but may also occur in women who have decreased estrogen production from cancer or breastfeeding. Common symptoms include the thinning, drying and inflammation of the vaginal walls, which can lead to painful intercourse, vaginal dryness or problems with urination. The MonaLisa Touch rejuvenates the vagina in three short, painless treatments.

“We leave a lot up to the patient at Northeast OB/GYN,” said Dr. Bernell. “If you come in and want nothing more than a quick annual exam, I’ll give you that. However, if you have questions or want to learn about our other services or how to be proactive in your health care, I’ll sit and talk to you until all your questions are answered. I never rush patients.”
