If Krissy Morrison’s job seems like an unusual choice for a woman, it was, at the same time, inevitable. A former foster child who was adopted, there came a time when Krissy wanted to meet her birth parents and launched her first ever private investigation to find and meet them. Years later, when she suspected her partner of being unfaithful, she personally tailed him to a resort and confirmed her suspicions. “I’ve always been good at trusting my gut,” Krissy said. “It’s amazing how often it’s right.”

When her mentor asked her to help out with some official private investigation, Krissy was able to follow a suspect 70 miles round trip and gather valuable information after her mentor initially lost him. “She told me, ‘You either have a knack for this work or you don’t. And you obviously do,’” Krissy said. Krissy accepted a job working for the firm and spent four years gathering knowledge and experience. That was 15 years ago.

“I learned a lot,” Krissy said, “but my degree is in marketing and communication and I had so many great ideas for growing the business. She was content to keep her firm small, though. So, I told her I wanted to open my own agency and left with her blessing. I still help her out when she needs me.”

Ethical, Reliable, Discreet Private Investigation

Krissy launched Morrison Investigations in 2011. “Initially I hired a lot of male ex-police officers,” she said. “But a man tends to be more conspicuous on a stakeout. Someone calls 911 about a man hanging around their neighborhood or business, or the neighborhood Facebook page starts blowing up with ‘Who’s that guy?’ and his cover is blown. It’s not that I discriminate against hiring men. It’s just that my female detectives don’t get ‘burned’ like that.”

Today, Morrison Investigations consists of highly-trained and licensed private investigators with proven track records who just happen to be women. They specialize in surveillance in both private and corporate matters and pride themselves in never turning a client away. Some of Morrison Investigation’s larger clients are American Airlines, the City of Dallas, Sedgwick Claims, and Broadspire Claims Management, but they accept jobs of all sizes tailored to the client’s needs and profile. Morrison Investigations is a certified, woman-owned business through North Central Texas Regional Authority and recognized as a HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) by the Texas State Comptroller.

Personal Protection

As the agency has grown, Krissy has expanded the personal protection offerings and finds that female personal protection agents (bodyguards) have an advantage there, too. “Male executives or high-net-worth men might have muscle by their side,” she said. “But if their wives go shopping or to the salon with a male bodyguard lurking over their shoulder it looks out of place. One of my highly-trained female personal protection agents can blend in better assuming the role of a personal assistant or friend. When a woman is going through a contentious divorce and needs to safely remove her belongings from the property, we conduct a professional risk assessment then develop an organized execution plan to get in and out while keeping her and her property safe.”

Morrison Investigation’s personal protection branch also works with executives tasked with implementing corporate layoffs. “Hopefully, everything proceeds peacefully,” Krissy said, “but if there’s an issue with a disgruntled employee, our officers are there to keep the client safe.”

When a client needs to intervene on behalf of a family member in need of rehabilitation for substance abuse or mental illness, Morrison Investigations’ personal protection team can help execute that process and transport the family member safely to and from the facility, keeping them safe and under the radar.

“We work with many local attorneys doing work for their clients,” Krissy said. “We also conduct infidelity and child custody surveillance and investigate medical fraud. And we’re always looking for ways to give back to the community. This includes offering pro bono protection services for individuals finalizing divorces and needing to retrieve their belongings safely. We also support local charities such as The Warm Place which provides grief counseling for kids and Safe Haven of Tarrant County for survivors of domestic abuse.”
