Q&A

Does an iron door increase your home’s value?

Getting an iron door will definitely increase your home’s value, offering a return on investment (ROI) of more than 87%. With the real estate market so hot right now, your curb appeal and front door are important because they’re the first thing people see when they drive by. An iron door will draw the eye and make people stop at your house. Any exterior things you do to your house, like landscaping, gutters, windows, and front doors, will increase your home’s value. Our goal when you get a new door is to change the entire front view of your house and give you a “wow” factor.

What is the iron door design process like?

The customer has total freedom of design. Start by choosing from our Hamilton line (traditional, scrolly, ironwork) or the Millennial line (contemporary look, straight lines, more Zen-like). We also have a transitional look that helps give traditional-style homes a modern touch. Visit our website, and you’ll be able to see more of these design choices. We have the capability to custom design your new unit – we also collaborate with our clients to custom build and deisgn the door of their dreams. Then we do a computer architectural design (CAD) process. Once you’ve approved your CAD, we start building the door of your dreams, which will take approximately 12 to 14 weeks to complete.

How secure is an iron door?

Wrought iron doors provide a great level of safety and security for your home and family. First, a wrought iron door is a visual deterrent and they are not penetrable.  You can’t break into iron doors because they are made of steel and installed to the acutal frame of the home using 4” lag bots. The glass is two peices of tempered glass, that is heat sealed together on one frame. With Freedom Iron Doors, customers also have the choice to control the tension of your pull, which a lot of women find safety in because they know their door won’t just fly open. You can also put in operable or non-operable glass depending on your preference and if you want that extra layer of security. Also, you can use a Ring doorbell, any electronic deadbolt, or a Bluetooth system. We highly recommend using a Baldwin lock that has a series made for iron doors to withstand the weight of the unit.

Are they energy efficient?

Yes, our iron doors are energy efficient. Every piece of glass has to meet state regulations. Also, since we use 12-gauge steel and all of our doors are fully foamed and insulated with closed cell polyurethane, it reacts to weather elements. If it’s hot, the foam is will expand, which creates a barrier between a cool interior and a hot exterior. Since the door is fully foamed and insulated the unit is never hot to the touch that you can’t open it.

What kind of warranties do you offer?

We have a lifetime warranty on the steel and a five-year warranty on the paint and finish of the unit. There’s a one-year warranty on the glass for things like fogging or leakage, but not breakage, and a one-year warranty on all parts and accessories. I have only seen one other company that offers five-year warranties. Most only offer one to three. I want to make sure you are happy and in love with your new door.
