You expect your dental office to offer cleanings, diagnose dental decay, and address other concerns. You also expect to be treated with kindness in a clean and well-managed office. What you might not expect to find from your local dentist is the technology to perform complicated dental procedures in-office, without the hassle of a referral. You might also be surprised to find dentists and hygienists, insurance specialists, and office personnel who are solely dedicated to making your experience feel comfortable and professional. You’ll find all of this and more at Memorial Dentists—a locally owned dental practice where their family takes care of yours.
The husband and wife team of Khurram Siddiqui, DMD, and Maryam Shariff, DMD, along with their associate Kara Kim, DDS, respect their patients’ time and finances, so they offer in-office dental implants, full-mouth restorations, same-day crowns, root canals, and other procedures. “Dr. Siddiqui is specially trained in implantology, so we’re able to offer patient-centric, comprehensive treatment in our office, saving our patients money and time,” Dr. Shariff says. “This allows patients not only a continuity of care, but they don’t have to take more days off work, going from one office to another to get work completed.”
Technology Makes the Difference
The office has been outfitted with state-of-the-art technology, including a 3D CT scanner to accurately plan and place implants as well as diagnose pathologies of the head and neck. Their CEREC system serves as an in-house lab that precisely designs and fabricates permanent porcelain crowns in about an hour. They also employ the VELscope oral cancer detection device for annual screenings, and offer cosmetic treatments such as ZOOM! for whitening and Invisalign for achieving straighter teeth. “Our commitment to technology offers patients a higher level of care than most general dentists,” says Dr. Shariff. “For example, patients can come in with a toothache, and in most cases we can perform a root canal that same day.” In instances when a specialist is warranted, Memorial Dentists have a network of trusted doctors they can refer patients to.
But the main goal of Memorial Dentists’ entire team is to keep their patients’ mouths and teeth healthy through preventive care via regular cleanings and screenings, while educating them on the role their oral health plays in their overall wellbeing. “Everyone in our office is highly educated and trained to pass along their knowledge to our patients,” Dr. Shariff says. “We hear all the time from new patients how they’ve never been told what their conditions included.”
The team knows that when patients understand what treatment is being recommended and why, they’re more likely to follow through with care. “If they don’t fully understand why they need a procedure and what will happen if the problem is ignored, we can’t expect them to comply,” Dr. Shariff continues. “Dental care only gets more complicated—and expensive—the longer you wait. We realize that taking time with our patients benefits them greatly in the long run.”
For anxious patients or when more complicated procedures are needed, sedation dentistry is offered. “We get to know our patients and what’s needed to make them feel comfortable,” Dr. Shariff says. “Some do fine without sedation and others like nitrous oxide (laughing gas) even for cleanings.” Often patients experience such a calming, reassuring visit, they require less sedation for subsequent visits. “We don’t push sedation on anyone, but let them know their options. We don’t want anyone avoiding their appointments because they’re uneasy.”
Meet the Memorial Dentists Super Docs
As the owner and director of Memorial Dentists, Dr. Khurram Siddiqui leads a talented team of dedicated dental professionals. Dr. Siddiqui has completed advanced studies in the field of implant replacement and restoration, and obtained a fellowship in the esteemed International Congress of Oral Implantology. He also completed extensive training with Invisalign for straightening teeth without metal braces. Dr. Siddiqui grew up in central Jersey and moved to Houston in 2012, after running a successful practice in Levittown, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Dr. Maryam Shariff. He also speaks fluent Urdu.
Dr. Maryam Shariff also owns and directs the practice with her husband, Dr. Siddiqui. She has extensive training in implant restoration and is a preferred provider of Invisalign. As a mom of three, Dr. Shariff balances work and family life by working select hours at the practice. She grew up in South Jersey and speaks fluent Urdu/Hindi.
Associate dentist Dr. Kara Kim was born in Seoul, Korea, grew up in southern California, and moved to Houston in 2013. She has experience in a broad range of procedures, including complex crown and bridge placement. Prior to relocating to Texas, she lived in Arizona and volunteered for years in dental clinics, providing care to the homeless and underprivileged. As an adjunct faculty member of the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health, she also worked with dental students as they provided care to children. Dr. Kim speaks fluent Korean.
Better Training, Better Care
You’d expect your dentist to stay up-to-date on the latest developments in the field, but what about their support team? Twice a year, the staff at Memorial Dentists completes specialized training in Atlanta in addition to the in-office sessions offered nearly each month. “We invest in our employees and arm them with the tools they need to better address patients’ concerns,” says Dr. Shariff. “We value them and know they will serve our patient population at the highest levels.”
Your entire family is welcome at Memorial Dentists—even children—but they understand if small children are more comfortable at pediatric dental offices and can recommend one if needed. “We want every visit to be a positive experience,” Dr. Shariff says. “I have a patient in her 80s who is still fearful from an experience she had as a child. If a child is at all apprehensive, then he or she might be better served at a pediatric practice. We’re more than happy to offer suggestions.”
Won’t you make Memorial Dentists your dental home for complete, comprehensive care? New patients are always accepted and Saturday hours are available by appointment.
“We Speak Your Language”
It’s been proven that when patients are treated by health care professionals who speak their native language, care and compliance are enhanced. At Memorial Dentists, patients can request to be seen by a hygienist or dentist who speaks their language. “Because we’re located in the energy corridor, we see patients from all over the world,” says Dr. Shariff. “Our practice is multilingual, not bilingual. We feel it’s key to educating our patients.”
