A licensed cosmetologist since 2009 and ceo/owner of Pamper Me Salon Spa Studios since 2017, Melissa Mallam has always had a passion for hair. “When I was a little girl in Nigeria, I watched the ladies in the salon across our street. I imitated them with my dolls’ hair and played stylist with my grandmother’s hair,” Melissa says. Her passion for all things hair continued after moving back to the U.S. at age eight. “In high school and college, I started charging friends for haircare and styling. Word got around and I was the unofficial hairstylist amongst fellow student athletes on campus,” she explains.

She graduated college with a business degree but found work in the field uninteresting for her creative spirit. That’s when she got her cosmetology license and later opened the Pamper Me Salon. “Pamper Me Salon Studios is comprised of four private studios. My hair salon, Pampered Tresses by Melissa, is one, a permanent makeup artist is in another, and there’s another hair studio with two hair stylists. I’m looking to add another beauty professional for the esthetics studio,” she says. Additionally, Melissa launched her own line of haircare products and hair extensions in December 2020.
