Today’s housing market in Houston is competitive, to say the least. Homes are being scooped up by eager buyers within mere hours of being listed. And if a property isn’t spoken for yet, it at least has several offers well over the asking price — putting sellers into a unique position. With so many deals coming and going quickly, it’s nice to have a seasoned Realtor who can calm the storm and put you in a position to succeed.
Look no further than Marcie Laird Ehmann. The longtime Realtor with RE/MAX Preferred Homes helps clients buy and sell homes as close as in her hometown of Cypress to Spring Branch, Bellaire, the Galleria area, and Galveston Beach.
No one has seen a market this competitive in a long time, but Ehmann, a 100% Club award winner, handles it in stride.
“It’s been challenging, but we aren’t giving up,” Ehmann said with confidence in her voice. “The market switches from a buyer’s or seller’s market, and there are busy times. But I haven’t seen anything like this. The key is communication — listening to clients, understanding what they are looking for, and explaining the process every step of the way. This is especially true for first-time homebuyers. They are making one of the biggest decisions of their life.”
Clients praise Ehmann’s compassion, accessibility, knowledge, and the rapport she builds with each of them. She worked in residential real estate from 2000 to 2005 before leaving for a Human Resources management career. Three years ago, she returned to real estate, her first love, and her honesty and positive attitude are welcome qualities in such a dynamic market.
From first-time homebuyers to people looking to downsize, buy a second home, or upgrade to their ultimate “dream home,” they all rely on Ehmann to make sense of the market and have an unmatched level of commitment to understanding their needs. Bringing that mantra under the umbrella of RE/MAX Preferred Homes created the perfect marriage between the unrivaled resources and reach of RE/MAX, and a Realtor who lives and breathes doing the right thing for her clients. RE/MAX Preferred Homes has been a staple in Cypress for 29 years and is owned by Mike Schroeder and his late wife, Pamela.
A believer in paying it forward, Ehmann is on the host committee for The Bryan Museum in Galveston, which just hosted its gala and raised over $557,000. She is also a committee member for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Herb, and three kids.
“When I started in 2000, I was in my mid-20s, and at that age, you don’t always know what you want to do,” Ehmann said. “But I loved looking at homes. I looked at everything from $100,000 to $2 million homes and enjoyed seeing everyone’s tastes. I love helping people find the right home, and I love sharing that excitement.”
