Rachel Thomas, owner and founder of The Beauty Lounge, knows that when you look good, you feel good. She also believes in following your passion. Hers was opening an upscale salon and spa in The Woodlands with a welcoming environment, a vibe of laidback luxury, and a collection of quality services and products for everyone to enjoy.

Rachel not only realized her dream, but she excelled at it. The Beauty Lounge has grown organically and has won multiple awards. Recently, she opened a second location in Conroe. She gives her amazing team credit for helping her achieve her goals.

“We have a versatile, customer-focused, multi-generational team that sees the big picture as well as the daily details,” says Rachel, a hair extension lead educator and certified specialist. “We’re supportive and appreciate one another and encourage mentorship within the team.” She also focuses her energy on team building and creating career paths for her employees. Valuing them as individuals, Rachel provides healthcare benefits, paid maternity leave, and incentive bonuses.

“It’s not a job, it’s a career, and when you love what you do and where you work, it shows. It’s one of the reasons clients feel like they’re part of a big, happy, caring family at The Beauty Lounge,” she says.

Rachel says that small woman-owned businesses like hers “have a lot of heart.” “We have a sign that says This Must Be the Place that really clicks with everyone. We feel it. It’s like that TV show “Cheers”—a place where everybody knows your name.”

Chrissy Pratt, salon manager at The Woodlands location, says, “We don’t just check our clients off an appointment list. We want to get to know them and for them to know us.”

Rachel, a mother of four, counts having a community and faith-based business as one of her blessings. “We see clients out and about in the community, and even at church.” She adds, “My husband sings at our church, and Chrissy sings at her church.”
