C Event Bartending

Courtney Calvert lives for weekends. After all, that’s when her schedule as a professional bartender is booked solid with happy-go-lucky customers, good times, and, when the place is hopping, plenty of hard-earned income. So, when she found herself not getting scheduled as many weekend shifts at her full-time gig at the hotel bar, she knew she had to shake things up.

“I picked up bartending jobs on the side at an event center and remember thinking, ‘I enjoy doing this,’” Calvert said. “That was in 2019, and it was just me doing those events at first. But it quickly turned into needing a few more bartenders.”

Fast forward to today and Calvert has a thriving business in C Event Bartending, where she offers bartending services for weddings, grand openings, private parties, corporate events, and more. The company did 326 events in 2022 — as local as right in their backyard of Fort Worth to as far as a 100-mile radius — and currently has 25 bartenders to meet the demand created by seemingly being on everyone’s preferred vendor list.

Calvert is from Oklahoma and is a proud Cherokee nation citizen. Her first job in the industry was as a casino cocktail waitress at 19. She eventually moved up to bartending and then to management. In 2015, she relocated to Texas to start her new adventure as a flight attendant. Even though she enjoyed her new venture, she found herself missing being behind the bar. Simultaneously working at an upscale hotel in Arlington and at an event center, once she got a taste for that new event scene, she wasn’t afraid to take a leap of faith and go into business for herself.

Many of the bartenders Calvert currently has on the event schedule used to be her coworkers and close friends. So, C Event Bartending has become just as much a thriving side gig for her trusted colleagues as it is a new way of life for Calvert.

“I have had a lot of support and guidance from everyone in my family,” Calvert said. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with the love of her life and their blended family of three kids. “They were supportive of my decision, and with a lot of hard work, it has become a success.”

Events and drinks pretty much go hand-in-hand. “I love getting emails and handwritten letters from clients who appreciate our provided service,” Calvert said. “We enjoy being a part of their special celebration and love building trusting relationships along the way. This is something I will continue doing for as long as I can.”
