Lone Star Heart and Vascular Center is the premiere provider of diagnostic and therapeutic vascular services in Tomball, Texas. Their team of heart and vascular specialists provides patients with all-inclusive care from minimally invasive procedures to the latest, high-tech, innovations to ensure you receive the best care possible.
With the guiding principles to provide exceptional service and compassionate care to those in need, the highly skilled specialists at Lone Star Heart and Vascular Center provide comprehensive and multidisciplinary care in the treatment of vascular disease.
Under the direction of dual board-certified interventional cardiologist Waqar Khan, MD, the center has been providing state-of-the-art cardiology services to the local communities of northwest Houston for the past 15 years. With extensive experience in peripheral vascular interventions, coronary and carotid artery angioplasty and stents, Dr. Khan is one of only a few cardiologists trained to perform the revolutionary carotid artery stenting procedure designed to open blockages in arteries supplying brain circulation and thereby avoiding the potential for stroke.
Dr. Khan’s colleague, Alexander Trujillo, M.D., is an experienced interventional cardiologist and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Dr. Trujillo is board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and is experienced in heart catheterizations, coronary and peripheral vascular interventions, nuclear imaging, transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, and implantation of pacemakers.
At Lone Star Heart and Vascular Center, care plans are tailored to meet your individual needs resulting in the most appropriate and effective care. Always with the patient’s best interest in mind, physicians use proven, standard-of-care treatment approaches and emphasize education to enable patients to better manage their illness and reduce the risk of complications.
“Our top-notch physicians plus nursing and support staff deliver quality care through providing leading-edge technologies and advanced diagnostic systems,” Dr. Khan said. “We’re a one-stop shop for the treatment of vein disease, including Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), varicose veins, venous stasis ulcers, and perforator veins. With a comprehensive understanding of Vein Disease, we treat underlying vein problems, not just the surface manifestations, through procedures including laser and radiofrequency ablations (RFA), phlebectomies, and ultrasound and laser surface sclerotherapy. Many patients visit us for bulging varicose veins, spider veins, and lower extremity ulcers (due to venous reflux disease).”
Vein disease is two times as common as coronary artery disease (CAD) and most people don’t realize how common it really is and how easily and effectively it can be treated. “Part of our job as vein specialists is to help educate people about vein health and the minimally invasive treatment options available,” said Dr. Khan. “All procedures are performed in the comfort and convenience of our office, which allows for immediate return to normal activity.”
Why Lone Star?
In addition to the comprehensive treatment of vein disease, the clinic provides cardiac consultations and advanced cardiology tests such as echocardiograms, vascular studies, nuclear stress testing, and pacemaker evaluations.
“At Lone Star Heart and Vascular Center, we are committed to improving quality of life for our patients by providing the highest, and most advanced, level of service that is readily accessible, utilizes the latest technology, reduces avoidable hospitalizations, and meets the needs of the communities we serve,” said Dr. Khan. “We welcome you to visit us for a consultation to discuss how you can get rid of problem veins.”
