Led by board certified dermatologist Dr. Kien Tran, the practice provides cutting-edge medical and aesthetic care for patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly. Dr. Tran’s practice includes adult and pediatric general dermatology, skin cancer surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. The physician also practices dermatopathology, performing skin biopsies of rashes and suspicious lesions.

Meet Dr. Kien Tran

As a child refugee from the Vietnam War, Dr. Tran and his family first set their roots in Louisiana. He received his medical training at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and his specialty training at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Prior to becoming a dermatologist, Dr. Tran was involved in skin research at the University of Pittsburgh. “While I enjoyed doing research on wound healing and skin regeneration, I switched to clinical dermatology which I have been practicing now for more than ten years,” he says. “I really appreciate getting to know my patients, increasing their awareness about skin health, and engaging them in shared decision making.”

The Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area has become a true home for Dr. Tran. “As patients become friends and students become colleagues, my ties with the community continue to flourish. It’s been wonderful to share my passion for health with the residents of this area and to be able to foster a sense of fellowship within the local medical community.”

When not busy treating patients or volunteering at local skin cancer screenings, Dr. Tran enjoys time fishing with his three sons. The physician is also the author of numerous publications and teaches medical and dermatology students from UT Southwestern Medical Center. “Working closely with the students and empowering them with knowledge and confidence to treat future patients is a unique experience, and it helps me remain at the forefront of dermatology.”

In addition to treating a wide range of skin disorders including psoriasis, acne, dysplastic moles, and skin cancer, Dr. Tran performs Botox injections, cosmetic removal of cysts and skin tags, and can prescribe medications for hyperhidrosis and wrinkles.
