“Move Well, Live Well” isn’t just a tag line at Lewis Pain & Physical Medicine. It’s a passion. Dr. Jerry W. Lewis treats chronic pain through a multidisciplinary approach including chiropractic adjustment, physical therapy, regenerative medicine, acupuncture, injections, other in-office procedures, and medication management—all under one roof. And because each patient is unique, each treatment plan is unique to that patient, their pain, and their lifestyle.
Dr. Lewis and his team coordinate holistic therapies to address the causes of pain in each patient’s life—not simply masking symptoms—with the goal of decreasing the use of opioids (narcotics) and empowering patients to be their own best pain-management advocate. They work closely with primary care physicians, surgeons, and other specialists coordinating care with the common goal of helping patients regain their quality of life.
Dr. Lewis takes time to listen and get to know each patient and their challenges. With 28 years’ experience evaluating, diagnosing, and treating acute pain, chronic pain, cancer pain, post-surgery pain, injury, nerve damage, arthritis, and metabolic problems such as diabetes, he also has personal experience with pain and injury. Many of the treatments he’s administering he’s also undergone himself. Dr. Lewis understands the many ways pain can impact a patient’s health, happiness, and wellbeing.
He utilizes a wide array of treatments to manage his patients’ pain. Always beginning with thorough diagnostic testing to determine the origin of existing pain, he then proceeds with the least invasive therapy first. To treat back pain, for instance, he performs procedures such as vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, epidural steroid injections, sacroiliac injections, and radiofrequency ablation. He also offers cortisone steroid injections for joint pain and trigger-point injections for muscle pain. And as a part of regenerative therapy for pain, Dr. Lewis provides stem cell therapy and PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy.
Dr. Lewis is a firm believer in the benefits of regenerative medicine which seeks to replace tissue that’s been damaged by disease, trauma, or congenital issues, by way of tissue engineering, cellular therapies, and medical devices. Combinations of these approaches can amplify the body’s natural healing process where it’s needed most. Regenerative medicine is a relatively new field that brings together experts in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, genetics, medicine, robotics, and other fields to find solutions to some of the most challenging medical problems. Dr. Lewis is committed to leading the way in this promising new field of pain management.
A father of five, Dr. Lewis is happy to have all his kids join him in his practice. When not on the job, he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and working out. He’s been recognized as the Best Doctor in Collin County by D Magazine seven years in a row, is a Living Magazine Top Doc and Best Of Readers’ Choice award winner and received an Honor Roll Award from Healthgrades.
