Buying insurance can be an overwhelming task, but GEICO local agent, Laura Ferring, makes a difference in her customers’ lives by educating and caring about them all the while helping ensure they get the insurance coverage they need.

When Laura started in the insurance industry more than 20 years ago, she never dreamt that she would one day own her own agency. “I started my career in the Marketing and Sales industry prior to joining GEICO,” the agent shared. Once with the insurance company, it was Laura’s sincereness in getting to know her colleagues and clients, along with her driven personality, that helped her gain the experience, knowledge and, ultimately, the credibility to continue to advance and grow.

“I started my career as a sales agent, then grew into a managerial position overseeing local offices across the country,” Laura said. “GEICO is a such a great company. I believe in their mission because they work hard to train their employees and they really care. To us, this is a ‘people business’, not a numbers business.” She adds, “If I do what’s right for my customers, business success will follow.”

Opening a new agency in August 2020 was no small feat for the Lantana resident. “It was definitely challenging at times, but I am very fortunate.”

Laura is dedicated to supporting her community through several projects that raise money for a variety of charities she is passionate about. “The schools, our first responders, and our military, especially, are very dear to my heart,” she shared. When Laura is not assembling hygiene kits for the Salvation Army and USO, delivering bottles of water to local schools, or assisting local student athletes with their teams’ needs, the agent is actively involved with the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce and is looking forward to the upcoming “Bike with the Blue” on May 15. This charity-driven event raises proceeds for ‘Journey to Dream – Kyle’s Place’, a transitional living program for homeless teens working towards independence.

“There are so many organizations needing help and I want to give back in whatever way I can. I am very humbled to live in a community who genuinely cares about each other. By being engaged with my neighbors, even in the smallest way, I can help fulfill all of their needs and bring smiles to their faces.”

Insurance is about protecting the people you love and the property you own. Laura is driven by a strong desire to get her clients the right coverage and to make sure they are completely satisfied with their insurance company, their insurance plan, and their insurance agency. “I’ve always been conscientious of the struggles around me, so I believe it’s important to lead by example. I will never be successful if I don’t take the time to help others make the right insurance decisions for their particular situation.”

When not helping her clients and her community succeed, Laura enjoys time with her husband, David, and their four children. “I love the outdoors and just trying to make a positive difference each day.”
