Whether you’re a young woman expecting your first baby or a more mature woman managing menopause and your weight, Kerry Kirkman, M.D., would like to partner in your journey. She exudes a passion for every aspect of obstetrics and gynecology and keeps her patients’ good health the forefront of her busy practice.
Dr. Kirkman graduated medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and acquired Cypress Women’s Center in 2004. After a major expansion, the office now encompasses 6000 square feet and includes two nurse practitioners and one Physician Assistant all with over 15 years of experience in Women’s Healthcare.
Cypress Women’s Center offers the entire spectrum of obstetrics and gynecology, including: pregnancy and childbirth, vaginal rejuvenation and pelvic prolapse correction, urinary incontinence procedures, bio-identical hormone replacement therapies, outpatient procedures such as Essure (sterilization) and Novasure (ablation for heavy menses), minimally-invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgeries, medical weight-loss programs—for women and men—using HCG.
Through North Cypress Medical Center’s acquisition of the da Vinci Surgical System, Dr. Kirkman now offers robotic surgery for her patients for various gynecological procedures such as hysterectomies, ovarian removal and exploratory surgery. “It’s exciting to be able to offer such state-of-the-art surgery options to our patients,” she said.
While robotic surgery is a recent development, providing bio-identical hormone replacement therapy for her patients has been nearly a decade-long devotion for Dr. Kirkman. “Just like every pregnancy is unique, menopause doesn’t look the same to every woman,” she said. “It’s an art as much as a science.” Through blood-tests and personal counseling, Dr. Kirkman is able to tailor hormone replacement therapy and order compounding pharmaceuticals nearby. As a result, patients no longer have to endure hot flashes, low sex drives, decreased energy levels, sleeplessness and more. “It’s so rewarding to see them get their lives back and even help revive their marriages.”
Dr. Kirkman is proud to devote much of her practice to helping women stay healthy. “We focus a lot on prevention, diagnosing problems early and getting people to a state of general well-being,” she said. In addition to her affiliation with North Cypress Medical Center, she also delivers babies at Cypress Fairbanks Hospital—an award-winning maternity ward with a Level III NICU. “There’s no need to go all the way downtown when the highest level of neonatal care is right here in Cypress.”
She and her husband are raising three children, who all attend local Cypress area schools and participate in Northwest Flyers Track Club; Dr. Kirkman, a runner herself, helps coach.
