When Dr. Sula Umansky considered a name for her private family dental practice, she didn’t have to think long. “Katy Dental Arts” said everything she wanted to say. Since Sula was a young girl, she has been fascinated with the way dentistry marries science, healthcare, and art, at the same time working to keep patients of all ages healthy and offering them beautiful, fully functioning smiles. The name was also a nod to the Katy community which has so generously welcomed her and her dental team, from day one.
Dr. Umansky designed Katy Dental Arts with an eye toward patient comfort and ease. “Life can be hectic,” she said. “I want a trip to my office to be the best part of your day.” She started with a convenient location and then turned her mind toward extra touches to pamper her family of patients.
“The soft colors, comfortable furnishings, and five-star amenities are there to offer a sense of calm and wellbeing,” she said. “We also offer warm blankets, eye pillows, relaxing paraffin hand wax treatments, overhead entertainment, and Bose headphones to sync to patients’ personal playlists.”
At Katy Dental Arts, all patient suites are private. “While many dental offices are designed with an open-air concept, private suites allow for more thorough and frequent disinfection, dramatically reducing the opportunity for cross-contamination,” Dr. Umansky said. “We also employ HEPA 13 medical-grade air scrubbers throughout the office and in each treatment suite capable of cleaning the complete air volume of the rooms in under three minutes. We’re using double high-volume evacuation techniques for all aerosol-producing procedures and are introducing additional extra oral containment measures to capture even the most minute number of dental aerosols. These are steps we’ve taken for years to keep our patients safe. They’re even more important now.”
Dr. Umansky has invested in the latest dental technology, including 3-D cone beam computerized tomography (CBCT), digital X-rays, intraoral cameras, laser cavity detection, advanced oral cancer screening technology, and more. “My patients deserve the latest technologies for a complete picture of their oral health and treatment options,” Dr. Umansky said. “And we’ll continue to reevaluate and add safety measures wherever we can.”
Dr. Umansky earned her bachelor’s degree in history and chemistry from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi and her DDS from the University of Texas Dental Branch. She opened her first practice in Katy in 2008 and has cared for multiple generations of local families Katy and beyond, providing them with everything they need in preventative, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry.
She has completed over 1,000 hours of continuing education in cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, implant dentistry, sedation dentistry, pediatric dentistry, endodontics (root canal therapy), and periodontics (gum disease). Patients enjoy her easy, comfortable rapport and can’t say enough about her staff of dental professionals who share her commitment to five-star service and patient safety.
