From a young age, Dr. Sula Umansky knew she wanted to be a dentist. “I had a difficult time as a child due to my smile,” she said. “My teeth were so misaligned I had difficulty eating or even speaking. I was fortunate, though, to have a talented dentist and orthodontist who corrected my bite and restored normal, healthy function. It’s what inspired me to become a dentist – to do for others what they did for me.”
After graduating with her bachelor’s degree in chemistry and history from Texas A&M University, she earned her DDS from the University of Texas Dental Branch, Houston in 2001. Throughout her career, Dr. Umansky has accumulated more than 1,000 hours of continuing education in implant dentistry, periodontics (gum disease), orthodontics, cosmetic dentistry, pediatric dentistry, sedation dentistry, and endodontics (root canal therapy).
Since opening her first practice in 2002, Dr. Umansky has built an incredibly dedicated and loyal following due to her easy, caring, and comfortable personality and expert, high-quality service. “I’m so lucky to be doing what I love every day. Many of my patients have been with me 10 or 15 years or longer, and I’ve been able to care for them and their children, parents, and grandparents.”
In addition to providing premium customer service, Dr. Umansky designed Katy Dental Arts with her patients’ comfort in mind. Extra touches pamper her family of patients. “Life can be hectic,” she said. “I want a trip to my office to be the best part of your day. The soft colors, comfortable furnishings, and five-star amenities offer a sense of calm and wellbeing. We also provide warm blankets, eye pillows, relaxing paraffin hand wax treatments, overhead entertainment, and Bose headphones to sync to patients’ playlists.”
Dr. Umansky has also invested in the latest dental technology, including laser cavity detection, intraoral cameras, computerized tomography (CBCT), advanced oral cancer screening, digital X-rays, and more. “My patients deserve the latest technologies for a complete picture of their oral health and treatment options,” Dr. Umansky said. “And we’ll continue to reevaluate and add new technology along with enhanced safety measures wherever we can.”
At Katy Dental Arts, Dr. Umansky feels blessed to employ a staff of dental professionals who share her commitment to five-star service and safety for their patients. “My awesome staff and I have a fantastic relationship and work cohesively as a team,” she said. “It’s our duty to provide patients with the information and treatment options they need to achieve and maintain optimum oral health, function, and beauty,” she said.
Furthermore, all patient suites are private, allowing more thorough and frequent disinfection, dramatically reducing the opportunity for cross-contamination. HEPA 13 medical-grade air scrubbers in each suite and throughout the office can filter the room air volume every three minutes. Masks and gloves are worn at all times by the entire staff.
“Patients’ safety has always been a top priority,” Dr. Umansky says. “These updated safety measures add an extra layer of protection to the already vigorous cleaning practices, making patients feel safe and secure. We’re fully committed to not only provide a true five-star dental experience but one that will provide a five-star safety experience as well.”
