Arlington Orthopedic Associates
Dr. Jason Lowry’s clinical practice approach is simple, “I strive to treat each & every one of my patients as I would want any of my own family members treated – with professionalism, respect, and a listening ear. My role is to educate and inform patients of their Orthopedic needs, so they can make educated decisions for themselves and be directly involved in their own care.”
Dr. Jason Lowry grew up in a small, country town in Missouri where hard work & resourcefulness were a way of life. Dr. Lowry’s mother worked as a nurse and his father was a physical therapist with his own rehab clinic, introducing Dr. Lowry to Orthopedics at an early age. Dr. Lowry was also heavily involved in sports as a young kid. His decision to pursue a medical degree specializing in Orthopedics was the natural result.
Dr. Lowry was an outstanding student at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Associates of Arts in Theology in 1999. He went on to earn his Doctorate of Medicine at Creighton University School of Medicine in 2003, completing his residency in orthopedic surgery at University of Missouri Kansas City in 2008. Four years later, Dr. Lowry completed the rigorous Fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction at the Center for Joint Preservation and Replacement, Rubin Institute for Advanced Orthopedics, Sinai Hospital of Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. Lowry’s extensive experience in advanced orthopedics includes his military service as a Major in the United States Air Force, during which he served overseas in Operation Iraqi/Enduring Freedom. Most recently, Dr. Lowry joined Arlington Orthopedic Associates, P.A. where his colleagues note that his outstanding academic credentials, military service and wealth of experience in the latest joint preservation techniques/tissue-sparing technologies make him one of the few surgeons of his caliber in the DFW Metroplex. “I feel fortunate to have learned and trained under leaders in the field of joint preservation, replacement & revision,” said Dr. Lowry. “As such, my approach is based on sound, surgical fundamentals that incorporate advanced methods in joint preservation techniques & tissue-sparing technologies to hasten your recovery, decrease your pain, & decrease the risk of surgery.”
Dr. Lowry specializes in the joint replacement of the hip, knee & shoulder, and is especially passionate about the Direct Anterior Approach for hip replacement. This approach offers a number of benefits, including less pain, shorter hospital stay, lowered risk of dislocation, fewer restrictions, and quicker return to normal daily life and work. “It is a real “game changer” in my practice,” said Dr. Lowry. “From a technical standpoint, we are able to more accurately position and size the hip components using fluoroscopy with the Direct Anterior Approach. This ensures recreation of the normal hip anatomy and mechanics, which in the long run, translates to increased longevity of the implants. We have had such success with this approach that we are putting together an “Out-Patient Joint Replacement Program” for selected patients. Stay tuned!” As a noted orthopedic expert with numerous research papers, presentations and publications, Dr. Lowry is actively involved in Orthopedic and other medical education courses. And as a way to give back to his community and fellow Veterans, he has future plans for “Operation Walk North Texas”- a joint replacement program for the working poor, and “Joints for Vets”- a program to outsource joint replacements for Veterans who are on an exceedingly extended wait list at the VA Hospital in Dallas.
In his free time, Dr. Lowry cherishes time with his loving, supportive wife and their two beautiful children. As a family, they are involved in their church throughout the year and enjoy being outdoors hiking, biking and fly fishing when time allows.
