Mandy Cotten, DNP, APRN, FNP-C
Mandy Cotten has a heart for helping men & women. She does so by offering personalized care at the Institute for Hormonal Balance that caters to the individual, no matter what stage of life they are in. “We’re passionate about helping our patients achieve the best quality of life possible,” she said. “We’re not concerned merely with longevity, but with helping our patients live life to its fullest potential.”
Mandy uses the BioTE® method of hormone optimization which includes balancing estrogen, testosterone, thyroid, and vitamin status, which work together in the body to establish true health status. “Balanced hormones are essential for good health and disease prevention as we age,” she said. “At the Institute for Hormonal Balance, we use the BioTE® method to optimize hormone levels with tiny pellets just under the skin.”
Because each patient is unique, Mandy and her staff partner with their patients to develop individualized care plans which involve patients intrinsically in their own care. “I truly believe in having a collaborative relationship with my patients, so their needs are met and they understand any treatment plans presented,” she said. “Patient education is paramount.”
Mandy received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from TCU, completed her doctorate at Loyola University in New Orleans and began her career as a labor and delivery nurse, woman’s health nurse, and recovery nurse. “I served in leadership at John Peter Smith Hospital,” she said. “I have worked for Dr. Gary Donovitz, a world-renowned expert in hormone optimization and have been practicing the BioTE® method of hormone optimization for four years, with wonderful success.” Mandy is the clinical coordinator for BioTE® Clinic and Research and is currently conducting a study with veterans on PTSD and hormone balance.
“My patients, BioTE®, and the Institute of Hormonal Balance are a large part of my life,” she said. “I also teach office personnel and my fellow practitioners how to offer BioTE® in their offices and about the BioTE® method.” When not on the job, she is head-over-heels mama to her sweet, baby girl, Rylie Rose. “She’s the light of my life,” she said. “At two and headstrong just like her momma, she definitely keeps me on my toes. My husband, Casey, and I enjoy spending time with friends and family, whenever we have free time. I’ve always been passionate about caring for others. Being a nurse practitioner allows me to live that passion to its fullest.”
