From routine eye exams, to expert treatment of eye conditions like “pink-eye” and glaucoma, you can trust the experience and skill of the doctors of Heritage Family EyeCare.
Heritage Family EyeCare (HFEC), your neighborhood eye doctor, was founded on the principles of providing a solution to all eye health issues. Proper eye health and vision are critical for enjoying life without limitations and Dr. Colvin and her highly trained staff take pride in providing the best optical solutions for your entire family.
About HFEC doctors and staff
Anjonette Colvin, OD, PA, opened Heritage Family EyeCare to provide families with a small business experience you only get with a local eye doctor. As a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and Glaucoma Specialist, Dr. Colvin makes all her patients, from age 6 to 106, feel comfortable. “We believe in taking a personal approach, treating patients like family,” shared the doctor. “Our job is to protect your health so that you can see the beautiful moments that make up your life.”
Along with colleagues Elizabeth Scherer, OD, and Lexi Derry, OD, the doctors of HFEC have successfully treated thousands of patients. They are recognized as leaders in eye care in the Fort Worth area, having received their training at top optometry schools and facilities. They also donate countless hours to local groups by giving back to the community they work and live in. HFEC hosts a Sharing Our Vision day once a month in which they provide exams, eyeglasses and contact lenses to people that are homeless or transitioning off of the streets. HFEC provides glasses for the at-risk students of Cornerstone Crossroads Academy in Dallas. They support all of the local schools and booster clubs as well.
Dr. Colvin and her staff are committed to the idea of “paying it forward” and it shows in how they practice every day.
The experts at Heritage Family EyeCare treat eye conditions to maintain and preserve your eyesight. “We understand that when your vision becomes unclear it can be alarming and stressful,” said Dr. Colvin. “We make things easier by treating our patients with respect, addressing their concerns, and creating a treatment and maintenance plan that works for your lifestyle. Whether you are an avid athlete that needs durable glasses to play sports, are trying contacts for the first time, or are living with glaucoma or other eye diseases–we can help.”
The HFEC Difference
Routine eye exams are essential in protecting healthy eyes and maintaining optimal vision. A comprehensive eye examination can detect a variety of diseases and conditions. By scheduling routine exams, doctors can detect potential problem before it becomes detrimental to the patient’s overall eye health. “Finding issues early, when they are most treatable, ensures that your vision is maintained at an optimal level. We also give you tips on reducing eye strain and caring for your eyes during this time.” HFEC offers the non-invasive, non-dilating Optomap digital imaging system to examine the internal part of the retina. “This is helpful in treating eye disorders and preventing eye sight from deteriorating any further.”
Many patients now rely on HFEC for laser vision correction (LASIK) consultation. “Glasses and contacts may be a hassle or actually prevent you from doing things that you enjoy or need to do for your occupation,” Dr. Colvin explained. “We can usually perform a full evaluation when you come in for your initial LASIK eye surgery consultation.” Your doctor will then discuss with you the results of your evaluation and let you know if you are a good candidate.
Dr. Colvin also explained that at your LASIK consultation, your eyes will be photographed and a computerized map (corneal topography) will be created. “This map will assess the shape of your cornea, and is one of the many diagnostic tools we will use to help plan your laser eye surgery procedure. I will then measure the thickness of your cornea as well as pupil size. Then, we recheck your prescription while your eyes are in their dilated, relaxed state.” Once all the data is gathered, the doctors will only refer the most skilled ophthalmologists that they trust with your eye health.
Visit our Optical Dispensary
While Heritage Family EyeCare is a perfect example of a neighborhood optometry practice, they also provide the latest in technology, eyewear fashion, and contact lenses in the industry. Conveniently located in HFEC’s brand new building on North Beach Street, the office is equipped with an Optical Dispensary, offering one of the widest selections of designer frames and contact lenses in the area.
HFEC’s mission is to provide the best products and services while maintaining the integrity of a private optometry practice. “Each of our patients has a unique personality, and we believe that your glasses can be a form of self-expression,” said Dr. Colvin. “We carry more than 1,000 frames and we use only the highest quality lenses. We offer personalized service from helping you choose the best frame to helping you with your prescription lenses. Our team of ABO-certified opticians is always available for minor repairs and adjustments.”
In addition to the staples, HFEC carries active wear glasses with flexible frames that are durable and hard to break, high fashion designs, and glasses for children. For contact lens and LASIK patients they also offer high quality non-prescription sunglasses that will protect your eyes from harmful UV rays. “We like to make the eyeglass experience a fun experience and our opticians and optometrists are highly trained,” Dr. Colvin continued. The practice also offers in-house edging, for same day service in an emergency.
