When you take your kids to Growing Great Grins, there’s a good chance they’ll want to come back soon. Leslie Blackburn, DDS, MS, and her team have crafted the kind of kid-centric atmosphere that sparks joy in children and takes all the fear out of going to the dentist.
Growing Great Grins focuses on relationship-based dentistry, promoting relaxation, comfort, and pampering for both children and their parents. Kids can head to the game room to play a variety of digital and tactile games or plug in colorful pegs in a giant, interactive Lite Brite wall. Depending on when kids visit, they may also get their face painted or take home a twisty balloon from a balloon artist.
“Every other week, we have something fun going on,” says Dr. Blackburn. “Parents are part of the experience, too. They can select a beverage, snack, heated neck wrap, blanket, or phone charger on our comfort menu. We have almost anything to make their experience better.”
Considering the welcoming and engaging environment and attentiveness to both kids and parents, it’s easy to see why Growing Great Grins has perfect five-star review ratings on Google. One patient raved, “Amazing and caring staff that go above and beyond! What a blessing it is to have these wonderful people in our life.”
Growing Great Grins provides a full range of pediatric dental services, including cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, general and preventive dentistry, laser dentistry, and sedation dentistry.
Parents with special needs children — or children who are highly anxious about dental visits — can take advantage of a program Dr. Blackburn developed especially for kids who need a little extra love. Through this program, Dr. Blackburn and her team take a gentle, no-pressure approach to dental visits, helping children feel in control of their visits.
“Some kids don’t fit well into the traditional dental model. Some need a little more time to get comfortable,” she explains. “If a child seems too nervous to do the normal routine, we don’t push. We encourage growth, but we never push. Anytime I can help a child work through their fear, it’s a beautiful feeling.”
Whether children need a routine check-up or more complex care, parents can relax knowing that Dr. Blackburn has her patients’ comfort and safety top of mind. Her practice uses state-of-the-art technology, including Isolite and dental lasers, to provide a more comfortable, efficient experience.
“I am a huge technology fan,” says Dr. Blackburn. “With my dental laser, I don’t have to involve anything sharp or pointy to get teeth numb. That means I don’t have to poke patients or give them a shot.”
Dr. Blackburn received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery and Master of Science from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and then went on to earn a certificate in pediatric dentistry from Yale University. Let her use her dental expertise and passion for helping children to make a difference in your kids’ lives.
