When Kimberly Gronberg, D.D.S., M.S., P.A., was 13 years old, she knew she loved the sciences. But it was only when she was going through the often-awkward stage of wearing braces herself that she realized that she could use her love of science in a career to help change the way others look and feel about themselves. “Once I was through orthodontic treatment, I realized that while there are the obvious aesthetic and functional benefits to having nice-looking teeth, there is also the psychosocial benefit,” said Dr. Gronberg. “It’s not just about feeling good about your smile, but it’s about feeling good overall.”
Located in Highland Village for the past seven years, Gronberg Orthodontics recently welcomed new associate orthodontist Lauren Davis, D.D.S, and both doctors pride themselves on fostering a culture of energetic, caring and hard-working employees who want to be the best. “We all have a heart for good customer relations, which is something that just can’t be taught,” Dr. Gronberg admitted. And a strong team is something that sets the practice apart. “We offer a personal touch that can often be forgotten in today’s fast-paced world. I feel so fortunate to have such wonderful people working with me; my practice just wouldn’t be as successful without them.”
Gronberg Orthodontics is a sole practice with most of the team living in the same area as the practice. “Dr. Davis and I are both committed to being available to assist our patients if there is an emergency or concern, and so to be local helps make our commitment that much easier,” said Dr. Gronberg. “We want to give personal care to all of our patients. And because we realize just how busy everyone’s lives are, it is important to us that we remain respectful of their time. We try to plan and progress treatment with the goal of getting our patients back to their busy lives as quickly as possible.”
Gronberg also enjoys watching her patients grow. “As an orthodontist, we see our patients every six to eight weeks, so we see the entire transformation of the person as a whole as the process takes place.”
Giving back to the surrounding community is another goal Dr. Gronberg’s staff actively participates and believes in. “We are always doing things to support the local schools and local organizations, whether it’s donations of money or our time in volunteering at events. It’s just really nice to be able to support the same people who support our business.”
Something for everyone
With technology always evolving, it’s important to Drs. Gronberg and Davis that the practice keeps up with latest in technology while offering the highest level of care in a warm and friendly environment. “We specialize in orthodontics and dento-facial orthopedics, and Dr. Davis and I are very involved in keeping up with the latest in dental trends and technology,” said Dr. Gronberg. “In fact, all of our staff attends many continuing education programs, as well, in order to keep current in our knowledge.”
While 80 percent of the practice is mainly children, Dr. Gronberg has seen a significant growth in adult patients thanks to esthetic options such as clear brackets and Invisalign. “More and more adults are coming to us for orthodontics because of new advances and technology. In addition, crooked teeth can make it hard to keep teeth clean, contributing to gum loss and tooth decay. As well, an abnormal bite can cause wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, and possibly contribute to headaches and jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain. It’s never too late to get that smile you always wanted!”
But Dr. Gronberg also stressed the importance of screening young children beginning around the age of seven in order to prevent any issues that may occur further down the line. “By seeing children at this age, we can ensure that growth and development of the teeth are progressing as they should. We usually don’t have to start any orthodontic treatment until most of the child’s permanent teeth have come in,” she said, “but we do offer a complimentary initial exam with a panoramic X-ray so that we can see what’s going on in the child’s growing mouth. Our goal is to determine that nothing ‘weird’ is going on and that everything is developing correctly. If we see an indication for early treatment, such as a narrow palate or problems with eruption of the teeth, we can prevent so many more problems in the future than if nothing is addressed.”
Whether you’re afraid to see the dentist or you feel that treatment is something you can’t afford, there is no better time than the present to schedule a dental appointment with Gronberg Orthodontics.
