Charlie Epps partners with JDRF at 27th annual tourney
Golfers across Houston joined JDRF Houston Gulf Coast Chapter for the 27th Annual Tee Up to Cure Diabetes golf tournament on a chilly day recently–but the cold didn’t stop the guests from enjoying a pleasant day of golf at BraeBurn Country Club. This year, local legend, PGA member, and coach to two time Major Championship winner Angel Cabrera, Charlie Epps, joined in on the fun as the keynote speaker.
After the tournament, guests warmed up with a dinner provided by BraeBurn Country Club featuring fried chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and peach cobbler with ice cream served alongside inspiring words and anecdotes from Epps.
Guests continued the spirit of competition through the silent auction, where they bid on experiences such as a round of golf for four with Epps as well as items such as wine, whiskey, and golf experiences. When all was said and done, the event raised a total of over $134,000 for JDRF, which seeks to progressively remove the impact of diabetes from people’s lives.
