Comprehensive Family and Women’s Health Care
The recipient of five Living Magazine Readers’ Choice awards, voted Best Family Practice Doctor/Group year after year, Fulshear Family Medicine is a medical home for countless residents, known and trusted by the community.
Individuals, families, and generations of family members choose Fulshear Family Medicine because of their friendly, patient-first philosophy of care combined with a proactive, preventive approach to overall health and wellness. Patients receive more than a prescription and a quick pat on the back, sending them on their way. They are educated and counseled on actions they can take to reach wellness and stop, or when possible, reverse the disease cycle.
Amber, who recently visited Fulshear Family Medicine for the first time, had this to say about her experience. “I’m a new patient to Fulshear Family Medicine since moving to Texas and a new patient of Dr. Mary Santiago. She has a wonderful bedside manner, and I felt immediately comfortable around her. She is personable, communicates well, and made me feel at ease. The staff is nice, my blood draw and flu shot were painless, and billing checkout is simple and stress-free. This brings a lot of peace of mind since finding new practitioners in a new state is stressful!”
Expanding Services to Include Comprehensive Women’s Health
Fulshear Family Medicine has changed over the years as the community has evolved. Under new management as of last year, hand-selected physicians are being added to the team. They’ve also implemented strict COVID-19 protocols to help ensure the safety of their patients and staff.
“We hand-select new team members who are phenomenal physicians but are also a good fit with our patients and a value to the community. With a staff that embraces patient-first care and team collaboration, we can provide a higher quality of care and closer continuity of care for our patients,” says Dr. Anisha Waxali, the practice owner.
Dr. Mary Santiago, who is board-certified in family medicine, has been in practice since 2004 and has happily called South Texas home for six years. She joined Fulshear Family Medicine in May 2020.
“Dr. Santiago is a gifted physician with a fabulous bedside manner. Patients of all ages love her,” says Fulshear Family Medicine CEO, Swati Nath.
Providing everything from routine check-ups to managing chronic conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes, Dr. Santiago strives to help patients be as happy and healthy as possible. “We want to catch health problems early before they progress,” she says. “By focusing on preventive care, we try to help prevent disease from occurring in the first place.”
Dr. Santiago says patients and their families enjoy Fulshear Family Medicine’s professional yet “down-home” atmosphere laced with real Texas hospitality. “It’s a great place to be a patient and to be a provider,” she says.
Dr. Jarmara Darcey, a board-certified OB/GYN, is excited about joining Fulshear Family Medicine. She will begin seeing patients there in January 2021.
“Dr. Darcey’s arrival will enable us to expand our women’s health services to include obstetrics and a broader range of gynecologic services,” says Dr. Waxali. Fulshear Family Medicine also plans to add a new pediatrician to the team soon. “Ultimately, our goal is to be a ‘one-stop-shop’ for family medicine, pediatrics, and women’s health care,” Dr. Waxali explains.
