Dr. Marcin Vaclaw and Dr. Brian Conley at Foot & Ankle Specialists of the Woodlands (FASTW) believe that health starts from the ground up. As Dr. Vaclaw likes to say, “It’s like having bad tires on a Lamborghini. If your feet hurt, you’re not going anywhere.” Knee or hip problems—just to name a couple—can also result from unresolved poor foot and ankle issues, but the doctors at FASTW are ready to help.
Modern Care
The fully equipped FASTW clinic includes some of the latest and most effective technology and products for treating and alleviating foot and ankle issues. For example, Dr. Vaclaw is one of the pioneers of a no-incision plantar fasciitis surgery for heel pain. Also among their advanced protocols, their non-invasive peripheral neuropathy procedure is modern, quick, and painless.
House Calls
Even with the amount of new and effective technology in their comprehensive clinic, the doctors at FASTW go the extra mile for their patients. Different from most modern medical practices, they take most of their services directly to patients who are physically incapable of coming to their office. “Each of our doctors spends two days a week traveling all across the greater Houston area visiting patients in their homes,” says Dr. Vaclaw.
Even new patients have little wait time for these convenient appointments and can get relief from their foot or ankle pain, and most insurances cover home visits, making this service invaluable for immobile patients. As a result, FASTW has been featured on Great Day Houston and Houston Life talk shows.
Diversity
To better serve their patients, Dr. Vaclaw and Dr. Conley speak Spanish and Portuguese. Not only are they fluent, but lived in Mexico and Brazil respectively for two years each and are members of both the Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce and The Montgomery County Hispanic Chamber.
Dr. Vaclaw says, “The Woodlands has a wealth of diverse cultures. I am proud that spending years abroad has given me and my partners a unique ability to help many in their native tongue.” This ability is important for better patient care. Dr. Vaclaw adds, “Communication is paramount in healthcare. It creates a comfort level that allows them to open up and explain their problems in detail.”
Volunteering
In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, both Dr. Vaclaw and Dr. Conley “mucked” out flooded homes several days. “Fortunately,” Dr. Vaclaw says, “Most of our patients and their families were only minimally affected.”
On top of their work in FASTW, Dr. Vaclaw and Dr. Conley regularly donate their time and skills at the Interfaith of The Woodlands Community Clinic to care for those who otherwise can’t afford medical help. Dr. Vaclaw says, “At FAS The Woodlands we strongly believe that it is not enough to be in the community, but to be a part of the community.”
