Changing the Way the World Looks, One Patient at a Time
Personalized Eyecare for the Entire Family
A commitment to providing quality eyecare with a personal touch runs deep in the Hughes family. Dr. Blake Hughes followed in his father’s footsteps when he became a Doctor of Optometry. After joining him in practice eleven years ago, Dr. Blake—as his patients call him—has been involved with the construction of First Eye Care’s beautiful, spacious stand-alone office in Hurst, through staff expansions and the addition of two new office locations in Roanoke and Keller. Yet there’s one thing that hasn’t changed—First Eye Care’s commitment to being your trusted family optometrist.
“It’s a privilege to serve the community where my dad, Dr. Craig Hughes, has practiced for decades, and where I grew up,” says Dr. Blake. “While our technology and knowledge have advanced over the years, we continue to offer a welcoming environment where we can get to know you and your family.”
Building Relationships, Creating Patients for Life
It’s clear that First Eye Care’s growth and longevity is due to their passion for best-serving their patients and the community. In fact, their philosophy is centered around building lasting patient relationships and serving them well.
“Our whole team loves people,” says Dr. Blake. “You can’t fake genuine kindness and caring. These innate traits enable us to effectively serve others in a manner that comes from the heart.”
Comprehensive Vision Care for Patients of All Ages
Of course, there’s more to quality eyecare than friendly service and putting patients first. First Eye Care provides state-of-the art vision care with an emphasis on total eye health, vision wellness, and disease prevention using leading-edge diagnostics and treatments.
“People tend to shrug off things like poor night vision as normal when they can usually be fixed,” Dr. Blake says. He also cautions about “silent” eye diseases such as glaucoma, which causes gradual loss of sight. Detecting disease is just one of the many reasons an annual eye exam is so important.
While First Eye Care excels in all the services they provide, we asked Dr. Blake to highlight a couple of things they do especially well.
“The pain of severe dry eye has been scored on the same level as chronic angina in quality of life studies. We’ve developed a customized protocol for patients with moderate to severe dry eye designed to deliver exceptional results,” says Dr. Blake.
Scleral contact lens fitting is another area of expertise. Scleral contact lenses—used to repair the ocular surface and restore sight—completely cover the cornea and extend onto the white outer layer of the eye. “We’re highly skilled at fitting scleral lenses and regularly see patients referred by corneal surgeons,” Dr. Blake notes.
Fashionable Eyewear, Contact Lenses, In-House Lens Lab
First Eye Care is your go-to place for contact lenses of all types and stylish frames that make a statement and reflect your personality. They carry a large selection of eyewear to fit all age groups and a wide price range to fit anyone’s budget. And with his focus on offering quality and value, Dr. Blake became the CEO of a lens manufacturing lab. “Our lenses are top-quality. With an in-house lab, we remain in control of the entire optical dispensing process.”
