Tired of depersonalized “big box” optometry stores that offer know-you-by-the-chart service versus personalized care from the heart? You’re going to love family-owned and operated First Eye Care. Dr. Craig Hughes and his son, Dr. Blake Hughes, offer “high-tech, high-touch” optometric services that include total eye health, vision wellness, and disease prevention using advanced diagnostics and treatments.
“There’s no better feeling than helping people enjoy clearer vision and optimal eye health in our community where we live, work, and raise our families,” says Dr. Blake Hughes (Dr. Blake).
Your Trusted Family Optometrist
First Eye Care’s well-trained, congenial team strives to exceed your expectations at each visit. Dr. Blake, who oversaw the practice’s recent expansion and is leading its evolution, says their laser focus on providing a top-quality patient experience doesn’t happen by accident.
“We love people, and patient-centered service is at the core of everything we do. It’s who we are, not an aspiration or a goal, and we do it every day,” he shares. “Our team meets weekly to discuss how we’re doing, review best practices, and develop new ways to provide the ultimate in eye care and customer service for our patients.”
Changing the Way the World Looks, One Patient at a Time
An annual eye exam with First Eye Care—just like an annual checkup with your family physician—is vital. Sneaky eye diseases such as glaucoma, which typically has no noticeable symptoms at onset, can lead to possible vision loss. Early detection and treatment can help preserve your vision.
A common problem becoming more prevalent these days is chronic dry eye. First Eye Care has developed a customized protocol that uses meibography imaging to determine mebomian gland dysfunction, a major cause of dry eye. “Our goal is to treat the cause of dry eye versus masking the problem with eye drops,” Dr. Blake says.
Scleral contact lens fitting is another example of First Eye Care’s expertise, and they regularly see patients referred by corneal surgeons. Scleral contact lenses completely cover the cornea and extend onto the white outer layer of the eye to help repair the ocular surface and restore sight.
Fashionable Eyewear, Statement Glasses, Contact Lenses, In-house Lens Lab
First Eye Care carries a wide selection of stylish frames for the whole family. They also offer a wide assortment of comfortable contacts, including disposable, sports, multifocal, and extended wear lenses. And due to their dedication to quality and value, First Eye Care has an in-house lens manufacturing lab which enables them to control the complete optical dispensing process.
Patients Share Love First Eye Care
One visit is all it takes for new patients to become patients for life, like Pam, who has been a patient for more than 35 years.
“They are just good people at First Eye Care. I’ve seen them grow and add new locations, and Dr. Blake join his father in practice, but the high-quality service and friendly care you receive remains unchanged. I have a chronic eye problem that can pop up suddenly, especially after long international flights, and if I need medication for it, I can call Dr. Hughes any time, including after hours and over the weekend. They really care for you like family.”
Josh, shared this. “First class operation! I have been to several other eye doctors in the area and First Eye Care in Hurst has by far the most comprehensive eye exam. Craig, Blake, and Richelle have all given me eye exams before and they are all equally amazing at what they do. They have a knack for making you feel comfortable and relaxed. If you’re looking for a new eye doctor in the area, don’t hesitate to call First Eye Care, you won’t be disappointed!”
Angie agrees. “Five-star care, knowledgeable staff, best experience ever! Thorough exam, respected appointment times and helped me find exactly what me, and my family needs and wants. Love it and happy to have found a new home!”
Steven says, “These guys care! I’ve been seeing Dr. Blake Hughes for years. He knows me, and we always share a good conversation during our exams. The rest of the staff follows that lead. Everyone there wants you to have healthy eyes and good vision, and they’ll work with you to make it happen in a way that makes you comfortable.”
