Kids Healthy Teeth Pediatric Dentistry
If you’re looking for a great pediatric dentist both you and your children will love, your search will end at Kids Healthy Teeth. From first “happy visits” to laser dentistry, the Kids Healthy Teeth team does it all! Their comprehensive services also include tooth-colored fillings and crowns, services for special needs children, sedation, pain-free laser frenectomies for infants and toddlers, and more.
Warm, Kid-Friendly, High-Tech Office
Board certified pediatric dentists Dr. Elizabeth Chen and Dr. Sheryl Griffith start children on a lifetime of excellent oral health by providing high-quality pediatric dentistry in a safe and comfortable environment. Kids enjoy the engaging office décor, whimsical themes, coloring books, and prizes from the “treasure tower,” but it takes more than this to create a positive dental experience for children.
“Our team is well-trained in caring for pediatric patients, and we go out of our way to make kids and their parents feel at ease,” says Dr. Chen. “When children have a good experience at the dentist, they don’t fear going to the dentist as adults.”
“We’re not just about teeth,” Dr. Chen adds. “We set aside 30 minutes for every patient exam, spend time with kids and their parents, get to know them, and strive to provide an engaging, interactive, and fun experience.”
In addition to providing an uplifting, caring environment for children, Kids Healthy Teeth stays up-to-date on the latest advances in pediatric dentistry and technology. Laser dentistry is a good example. The office is equipped with the WaterLase iPlus and Biolase Epic 10 lasers, which they use to treat problems such as dental decay and apthous ulcers, perform gum tissue procedures, and provide teeth whitening and pain therapy.
The practice also supports local schools by providing oral hygiene presentations and participating in school health fairs and festivals.
It’s not a surprise that most new patients come to Drs. Chen and Griffith based on referrals. And they’re starting to see parents, who were once patients, bring their children to Kids Healthy Teeth.
Tell, Show, Do
Another way the Kids Healthy Teeth team encourages children to feel right at home in the dental chair is by using the “tell, show, do” dental style.
“We use a hands-on learning approach and strive to eliminate fear of the unknown by explaining what will happen while patients are with us,” Dr. Chen says. “We show them how to brush and how we look for cavities using a cute stuffed animal, and get them acquainted with the equipment in our office. Most children initially equate the dental office with going to see the pediatrician. We show them how dentists are different.”
Meet Dr. Elizabeth Chen
Dr. Elizabeth Chen was born and raised in Houston. She attended high school at St. Agnes Academy and went on to play collegiate soccer in Austin, Texas, at St. Edward’s University. Following in her parents’ footsteps, she returned to Houston and completed a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Texas School of Dentistry, graduating as the class salutatorian. After receiving her DDS, Dr. Chen started a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, graduating with a Postdoctoral Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and a Master’s of Science in Dentistry. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Chen and her family love teeth and dentistry. Every member of her immediate family is a dental specialist. In fact, her mother, also a pediatric dentist, introduced Dr. Chen to Dr. Griffith. She is an active member of the Katy Rotary Club and in her free time likes to play soccer, run and workout, travel to places new and old, eat delicious food, and watch movies.
Both Dr. Chen and Dr. Griffith are involved in numerous dental organizations that promote research, education, prevention, and restoration of dental diseases, including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Houston Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association.
Patients and Parents Love Kids Healthy Teeth!
“We love Dr. Chen and her staff—everyone is so helpful and the hygienist, Sally is wonderful. We never have to wait, and Dr. Chen explains everything so well and gives us options, which we never had at any other pediatric dental office. The kids love Dr. Chen; she’s young and spunky, and beautiful. I have referred all our friends to Dr. Chen. The office takes lots of different insurance plans, including ours, and that is a breath of fresh air—we get to see a specialist AND use our insurance!” – G.L.
“We have used this practice for years. I have four kids and never once have any of them complained of fear about going to the dentist or of pain after a filling. They were excellent with my son who has autism and my little guys when they were only toddlers. If they would take my money, I would use them myself.” – K.F.
“I took my two-year-old son here for the first time today. The nurse was amazing with him. She took the time to show him what each instrument did and allowed him to use them on a monkey model. She allowed him to sit how he was comfortable and sang songs to him the entire visit while she polished and examined his teeth. The dentist was very upbeat and made him very comfortable. Their office is very clean and welcoming, and he came home with several goodies. We will definitely be returning patients!” – C.A.
