Determining whether your medical crisis warrants a trip to the emergency room or a visit to the nearest urgent care center is a decision you should never have to make. Thanks to E-Care Emergency Centers, they’ll make that determination for you. As a combined freestanding emergency and urgent care center, E-Care can provide whichever level of care you need—and you’ll not pay for care you don’t.
If you’ve ever gone to a hospital emergency room to see if your child’s arm is broken, waited for what seems like hours among strangers to see a harried doctor and then waited even longer to get X-rays, E-Care Emergency Center is a welcome change. If you’ve ever gone to an urgent care facility thinking you had heartburn, only to find out it was something more serious, E-Care is for you, too.
As a self-contained, fully-equipped, state-licensed, free-standing emergency and urgent care facility, the professional team can give their full attention to the immediate needs of each patient. Since there are no in-patient beds, you don’t have to wait behind hospital patients to access their onsite CT scans, ultrasounds, digital radiology or lab. You’ll get results efficiently and accurately with personalized care. “Our philosophy is simple and yet unique: placing urgent care and emergency services under one roof and one governing body lets us operate smoothly and efficiently,” said Robert Rankins, M.D., founder of E-Care. “Our patients and our teams will tell you—it’s a better solution that works.”

Meet Josh L.V. Prickett, MD, medical director of E-Care in North Richland Hills
Dr. Prickett worked in hospital-based emergency rooms for 25 years before taking the helm of E-Care in North Richland Hills. “The stress of taking care of patients who had to wait much longer than they wanted to and were frustrated by the time I saw them eventually took its toll,” he said. Compounding the less-than-ideal model was decreased staffing, which meant even fewer hands to tend to patients. “Everything—assessing patients, caring for them, getting tests completed and results back—frequently took much longer than I wanted it to.”
The E-Care model has allowed Dr. Prickett and his team to really devote their time and attention where it needs to be—caring for the patient. “In the hospital, people work hard but their attention can be scattered,” he said. “Here we’re solely focused on patient care, which leads to a dramatic increase in patient satisfaction.”
Dr. Prickett is board certified in Family Medicine and was formerly the vice chief of Emergency Medicine at Harris-Methodist HEB Hospital. He also served as an emergency physician at hospitals in Oklahoma and Minnesota. He received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Oklahoma and his Doctor of Medicine from University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. He has been married to his wife, Carin, for 30 years, and has two adult children and a son-in-law. He enjoys being involved in their local church and spending time with family.
Choosing to practice emergency medicine stemmed from Dr. Prickett’s desire to care for a varying patient population—from those mildly sick to those in dire need of care, whether an adult or child. “Also with emergency medicine, there’s a significant amount of immediate gratification,” he said. “Often times we see someone respond very quickly while under our care.”
As the clinic’s medical director, Dr. Prickett assembled a team of professionals who share his desire to see patients treated quickly with the utmost level of compassion. “I want each employee to be proud of where he or she works,” he said. “By providing both urgent and emergency care, we not only treat a wide variety of patients but, during urgent care hours, we’re able to treat them fairly by not charging emergency room rates for something that’s not.” Discover for yourself the E-care difference where the entire center is focused on patient satisfaction.
