Determining whether your medical crisis warrants a trip to the emergency room or a visit to the nearest urgent care center is a decision you should never have to make. Thanks to E-Care Emergency Centers, they’ll make that determination for you. As a combined freestanding emergency and urgent care center, E-Care can provide whichever level of care you need—and you’ll not pay for care you don’t.
If you’ve ever gone to a hospital emergency room to see if your child’s arm is broken, waited for what seems like hours among strangers to see a harried doctor and then waited even longer to get X-rays, E-Care Emergency Center is a welcome change. If you’ve ever gone to an urgent care facility thinking you had heartburn, only to find out it was something more serious, E-Care is for you, too.
As a self-contained, fully-equipped, state-licensed, free-standing emergency and urgent care facility, the professional team can give their full attention to the immediate needs of each patient. Since there are no in-patient beds, you don’t have to wait behind hospital patients to access their onsite CT scans, ultrasounds, digital radiology or lab. You’ll get results efficiently and accurately with personalized care. “Our philosophy is simple and yet unique: placing urgent care and emergency services under one roof and one governing body lets us operate smoothly and efficiently,” said Robert Rankins, M.D., founder of E-Care. “Our patients and our teams will tell you—it’s a better solution that works.”

Meet Troy Obregon, MD, medical director of E-Care in Keller
Hometown physician Dr. Troy Obregon feels it’s a special privilege to work and serve in the area where he grew up. He attended high school in Arlington and earned his medical degree from UT Southwestern in Dallas. Although he moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California as a resident in emergency medicine, he returned to his Lone Star roots in 1999 and has spent more than 15 years seeing patients in area hospitals’ emergency departments.
Board-certified in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Obregon started working part-time at E-Care in North Richland Hills a couple years ago. “While working at hospitals and E-Care in North Richland Hills, it was easy to make comparisons,” he said. “I noticed that not only did our E-Care patients leave more satisfied, but I did, too. I felt less stress after a shift and more content because I was able to spend quality time with each patient.”
So enamored with the concept, he stepped up to become the medical director at E-Care’s newest location here in Keller. “This is my home,” he said of the north Texas area. “I’m from here, I’ve worked here all my life and I know the hospitals in the area should a patient of ours need to be referred somewhere for additional care.”
A diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Obregon said emergency medicine has always been his calling. “When I considered becoming a physician, I had this image of what a true doctor looked like,” he said. “One who had a vast knowledge of medicine and was able to alleviate and mitigate the most amount of suffering in a situation—pain, sadness, distress for both patient and family. As an emergency and urgent care center, we can actually fix problems or at least get patients on the path to wellness.”
Having both worked at an E-Care Center and had the privilege to see his own get ready to launch, Dr. Obregon feels a sense of pride in the attention to details that go into the building. “The level of the technology and the spaciousness of the exam rooms really make you grateful to be a part of E-Care,” he said. “We have such a degree of calm and quiet here and our team knows their positions so well, patients notice the difference.”
