Determining whether your medical crisis warrants a trip to the emergency room or a visit to the nearest urgent care center is a decision you should never have to make. Thanks to E-Care Emergency Centers, they’ll make that determination for you. As a combined freestanding emergency and urgent care center, E-Care can provide whichever level of care you need—and you’ll not pay for care you don’t.
If you’ve ever gone to a hospital emergency room to see if your child’s arm is broken, waited for what seems like hours among strangers to see a harried doctor and then waited even longer to get X-rays, E-Care Emergency Center is a welcome change. If you’ve ever gone to an urgent care facility thinking you had heartburn, only to find out it was something more serious, E-Care is for you, too.
As a self-contained, fully-equipped, state-licensed, free-standing emergency and urgent care facility, the professional team can give their full attention to the immediate needs of each patient. Since there are no in-patient beds, you don’t have to wait behind hospital patients to access their onsite CT scans, ultrasounds, digital radiology or lab. You’ll get results efficiently and accurately with personalized care. “Our philosophy is simple and yet unique: placing urgent care and emergency services under one roof and one governing body lets us operate smoothly and efficiently,” said Robert Rankins, M.D., founder of E-Care. “Our patients and our teams will tell you—it’s a better solution that works.”

Meet Robert S. Lapporte, MD, medical director of E-Care in Coppell
Dr. Lapporte spent 15 years practicing emergency medicine in Chicago-area hospitals emergency rooms before the appeal of Texas living lured him south. A chance encounter with E-Care founder Dr. Rankins at a racing school in Arizona led him to his current position: medical director of E-Care in Coppell.
Board-certified in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Lapporte chose his field of medicine because he liked the challenge. “You’re never bored because, at any minute, any situation can walk in the door,” he said. “I also love the variety of emergency care. You need to know a lot about many conditions and organ systems as opposed to specializing in one branch of medicine.”
Making the transition from a hospital-based E.R. to E-Care’s free-standing autonomous facility was a welcome change. “When patients come here, we see them quickly and therefore they’re not frustrated by a long wait,” he said.
“We also have the opportunity to spend time with patients and their families instead of rushing to the next room. Absent is that underlying tension in the room that comes with having to wait for care. It’s definitely a more rewarding experience for us and our patients.”
Dr. Lapporte received his Bachelor of Psychology Degree at University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Resurrection Medical Center. He then served as attending physician at Northern Illinois Medical Center, Good Shepherd Hospital and Elmhurst Memorial Hospital in Chicago and at Total Access Urgent Care in St. Louis.
He and his wife have a young daughter and are excited to settle into the Coppell community. Dr. Lapporte welcomes you to come by the Coppell location and get to know him and his team. They’re committed to providing you and your family an unexpected level of care, compassion, service and total satisfaction for both emergency and urgent medical situations.
