Since so much of life revolves around how we present ourselves to the world–how we’re perceived at work, how we appeal to our mates, how we feel about our appearance–it’s only natural to want to look our best. But factors out of our control, such as aging and genetics, can adversely alter our looks. Even those we can control, but later regret–sun exposure, smoking–can cause damage. Other factors such as having children and significant weight loss can alter one’s physical appearance as well. Plastic surgery can often help to reverse these unwanted changes.
“I’ve always excelled at doing things with my hands,” Dr. James Tang said. “I enjoy the artistic side of plastic surgery, and because it allows me to work on all areas of the body.” A life-long passion for helping others look their best has been the focus of his practice for over 30 years.
Dr. Tang began his career with an impressive foundation. He graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University and went on to receive his M.D. from Stanford University School of Medicine. He did his internship and general surgery residency at New York University in New York City and Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio; and his plastic surgery residency at UTMB in Galveston, Texas. He was an assistant professor of plastic surgery at UTMB before entering private practice.
He is board-certified in plastic surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well as many other professional and civic organizations.
